IN-HOUSE TITLE: SSR Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Corporate Security, BBC Quality Risk and Assurance

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £56,000 - £64,000pa depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Security Specialist (Events and Operations) leads the delivery of proportionate, risk-based security across BBC Studios events, productions, facilities and business operations. Acting as the subject matter expert for event and protective security, the role provides strategic advice, ensures compliance with legislative requirements, including the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act, and helps protect BBC Studios' people, assets, reputation and commercial interests.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

Lead security planning and delivery for BBC Studios events, productions, facilities and operational activities.

Provide specialist advice on protective security, physical security, counter-terrorism and security risk management.

Ensure compliance with the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act and other relevant legislation and standards.

Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, emergency services and security partners.

Lead security assurance, risk assessment and continuous improvement activities across BBC Studios operations.

Support incident management, crisis response and organisational resilience initiatives

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Significant experience delivering security within major events, corporate, media or complex operational environments.

Strong knowledge of protective security, physical security, counter-terrorism principles and risk management.

Experience providing strategic security advice to senior leaders and operational stakeholders.

Proven ability to assess security risks and implement practical, proportionate mitigations.

Excellent stakeholder management, communication and incident management skills.

DESIRABLE

Experience preparing for or implementing requirements under the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act (Martyn's Law).

Level 3 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Preparedness qualification

Experience within media, broadcasting, entertainment, live events or hospitality sectors.

Experience supporting international operations and geographically dispersed teams.

Relevant professional security qualification (CPP, CSyP, CSMP or equivalent), along with Membership of a recognised professional security body.
