After Duty Jobs helps police, ambulance, fire and armed-forces leavers move into civilian careers. When you register or apply through this site, we store your details so a recruitment consultant can contact you about relevant roles. That is the only reason we hold them. This page explains what we collect, who sees it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.

Who we are

After Duty Jobs is the data controller for the information described on this page. Questions, requests or complaints about your data: email privacy@afterdutyjobs.com.

What we collect, and why

When you register or apply we collect your name, email address, phone number (if you give one), your service background, and your CV. We process them on the basis of your consent — the checkbox you tick when registering — for one purpose: helping you find a civilian role. We don't use them for anything else, and we never sell them.

Our site analytics are anonymous first-party page-view counts only — no cookies, no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics, and no visitor ID or IP address tied to your browsing. See our Cookie Policy for the full detail.

We don't use automated decision-making about you. Our matching system scores jobs against a skills taxonomy to work out which roles suit your background — it never scores, ranks or filters candidates, and no automated process decides whether a consultant contacts you or which employer sees your CV. A person always makes that call.

Who receives your details

After Duty Jobs is a recruitment agency, not just a listings site — there's no separate company your details get handed off to. We remain the data controller for your details throughout.

  • Our own recruitment consultants, via the recruitment system (CRM) they work in — this is how a consultant picks up your registration and contacts you.
  • The companies that host our website, database and file storage, acting on our instructions as data processors.
  • We never pass your details to an employer without speaking to you first, and we never sell them to anyone.

We operate in the UK and Australia. If your details need to move between the two, we only do so with appropriate legal safeguards in place.

How long we keep them

We keep your details for up to 24 months from our last contact with you, then delete them automatically — the registration and the CV file. Job listings on this site are short summaries of publicly advertised roles and contain no personal data.

Your rights

You can, at any time and free of charge:

  • ask for a copy of everything we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong;
  • ask us to delete your details ("right to be forgotten") — we'll also remove you from our consultants' recruitment system;
  • withdraw your consent, which stops all further processing;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your details;
  • receive your details in a portable format to take elsewhere.

Email privacy@afterdutyjobs.com to exercise any of these. We respond within one month, and usually much sooner.

How to complain

If you're unhappy with how we've collected or used your data, email privacy@afterdutyjobs.com with "Complaint" in the subject line. We'll acknowledge it within 30 days, investigate, and tell you the outcome and what we've done about it — usually well before that deadline.

If you're not satisfied with our response, or would rather complain directly to a regulator, you can contact the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or, in Australia, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. You don't need to complain to us first, but we'd welcome the chance to put things right.

Marketing

We only email you about new matched roles and career guides if you ticked the separate optional box when registering, and every email includes a way to opt out.
