Job Purpose

Alpha Omega Securities Ltd is looking for a professional, approachable and reliable College Campus Security Officer to join our team at a college campus in Macclesfield.

You will provide a visible security presence, helping to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for students, staff and visitors. As part of the wider college community, you will play an important role in safeguarding young people, maintaining security, responding to incidents and promoting a positive campus culture.

Key Responsibilities Campus Presence & Engagement

  • Deliver high-visibility, professional patrols around the campus, including entrances, social areas, car parks and perimeter boundaries.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff and visitors by remaining approachable, polite and professional at all times.
  • Balance a strong security presence with excellent customer service to ensure the campus feels both safe and welcoming.
  • Provide information, directions and assistance to students, staff and visitors.
  • Identify potential issues early and take proactive action where appropriate.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for both the college and Alpha Omega Securities Ltd.

Incident Response & Reporting

  • Respond promptly and professionally to incidents and emergencies.
  • Manage conflict and de-escalate challenging behaviour using appropriate communication techniques.
  • Record incidents accurately using company reporting systems.
  • Liaise effectively with the Control Room, college staff, emergency services and other agencies where required.
  • Report safeguarding and welfare concerns in line with college and company procedures.

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Monitor access control points and ensure only authorised persons enter restricted areas.
  • Carry out routine security inspections of buildings, gates, doors and alarm systems.
  • Report maintenance issues, hazards and security concerns.
  • Assist with emergency evacuations, fire alarms and other emergency procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Safeguarding and College policies at all times.

Community & Partnership Working

  • Work collaboratively with college staff, facilities teams and partner agencies.
  • Support initiatives that promote student wellbeing and campus safety.
  • Assist during college events, enrolment periods and open evenings where required.
  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion and responsibility throughout the college community.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
  • Must hold a current Enhanced DBS Certificate with no content that would prevent working with children and young people, or be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check prior to commencing employment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in conflict management and physical intervention.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Competent in using radios, body-worn cameras and digital reporting systems.
  • Reliable with excellent timekeeping and attendance.
  • Smart, professional appearance and willingness to wear company uniform.
  • Ability to travel reliably to Macclesfield.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within an educational environment.
  • Experience working with young people and/or vulnerable individuals.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and the Prevent Duty.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Previous customer service or community engagement experience.

Hours of Work

  • 40 hours per week.
  • College Term-Time Only.
  • Working across 3 longer shifts per week to complete contracted hours.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours during college events, enrolment periods or where operational requirements require.

Pay

£12.71 per hour
