Overview

Your experience with PACE, RIPA, and regulatory frameworks gives you the discipline needed for compliance advisory and incident management.

About this role

A leading financial services organisation is seeking a Compliance Consultant to support its Enterprise & Operational Risk function, with a focus on enabling compliant delivery of product, customer, and regulatory initiatives across its Australian business.

This role will work closely with product, marketing, and operational teams to ensure regulatory obligations are embedded from design through to implementation, while balancing commercial objectives. The engagement will also play a key role in managing regulatory incidents and advising on breach reporting obligations.

The consultant will be expected to operate as a trusted advisor to the business, providing pragmatic, commercially aware compliance guidance while maintaining strong regulatory discipline.

This is a 12-month engagement, with the client based in Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compliance advisory across product design, customer propositions, and operational processes to ensure regulatory obligations are embedded early and effectively
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate regulatory requirements into clear, practical implementation guidance
  • Review business initiatives, communications, and distribution approaches to identify regulatory risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Influence decision-making by balancing regulatory expectations with commercial outcomes
  • Provide oversight on customer communications, disclosures, and marketing materials to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Assess regulatory incidents and determine reportability under relevant regulatory regimes
  • Prepare regulatory notifications and manage correspondence, including root cause analysis and remediation planning
  • Collaborate with Legal and other functions to ensure consistent and defensible regulatory positions

Your Background

  • 5+ years’ experience in compliance, risk, or legal advisory within financial services, ideally in consumer lending or credit cards
  • Strong understanding of Australian financial services regulation (eg. NCCPA, ASIC Act, Corporations Act) and ability to translate into practical business guidance
  • Proven experience supporting product and project teams to design compliant processes and controls
  • Demonstrated ability to balance regulatory risk with commercial outcomes in stakeholder environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability, including the ability to challenge and align cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing regulatory incidents, including reportability assessments and remediation oversight
