Cyber Security Architect Lead

About this role

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Architect Lead to support a large scale transformation program within a complex enterprise environment. This role will play a critical part in establishing security architecture direction, governance, and design assurance across multiple project streams, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned to organisational objectives.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a significant cyber security and technology uplift initiative, working across multiple workstreams including architecture governance, solution design, security assurance, technology modernisation, vendor evaluation, and enterprise capability development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead cyber security architecture activities across multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Define and maintain cyber security architecture principles, standards, and reusable design patterns.
• Provide architecture governance and design assurance across project and delivery teams.
• Deliver architectural leadership through discovery, design, implementation, and transition into operations.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security frameworks, compliance obligations, and strategic objectives.
• Support project teams in translating architecture into practical and implementable technical outcomes.
• Provide expert technical advice and guidance to stakeholders across business and technology teams.
• Mentor architects and technical specialists to uplift capability across the broader program.
• Present complex technical concepts to a range of audiences, including senior leaders and executives.
• Monitor emerging cyber security risks, technologies, and industry trends.
• Identify opportunities to improve consistency, maturity, and effectiveness of security architecture practices.
• Promote the adoption and reuse of architecture standards and patterns.
• Provide architectural input into procurement activities, technology selection, and vendor assessments.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of cyber security capabilities, governance, and delivery practices.

About You

You will bring extensive experience as a Cyber Security Architect, Lead Security Architect, or Principal Security Consultant, working across large and complex programs, with the ability to provide strategic direction while remaining closely aligned to delivery outcomes.

Essential Experience

• 10+ years' experience in cyber security architecture, security consulting, or technical leadership roles.
• Proven experience leading security architecture across large-scale transformation or enterprise technology programs.
• Strong experience establishing architecture principles, standards, governance, and assurance frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to provide security architecture leadership throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Experience developing security architecture strategies, target states, and capability roadmaps.
• Strong understanding of cyber security frameworks, standards, and best practices.
• Experience delivering architecture assurance and design governance within complex environments.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide trusted advice at leadership and executive levels.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and consulting skills.
• Experience working within highly regulated or compliance-driven environments.

Highly Regarded

• Experience delivering cyber security architecture within large enterprise or transformation programs.
• Knowledge of government and industry security frameworks and compliance requirements.
• Experience developing enterprise-wide security capability roadmaps.
• Exposure to cloud, identity, network, and operational technology security domains.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, TOGAF, CCSP, or equivalent.
