Overview

Your investigative mindset and evidence-handling discipline support cyber certification and assurance activities.

About this role

  • Permanent Full-Time | Up to $190k package
  • Canberra | On-site requirements
  • Minimum NV1 security clearance required

Take on a cyber engineering role where security needs to work in the context of complex technical systems, not just traditional enterprise IT.

You'll work alongside engineering leads and technical specialists, providing cyber expertise across testing, certification and system assurance activities. The role has a strong engineering focus, with involvement throughout technical reviews and the collection of verification evidence required to support cyber certification.

The Role

As a Cyber Security Engineer, you'll provide specialist cyber engineering advice within a complex, highly regulated environment, working closely with engineering teams and external delivery partners.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Developing and reviewing cyber testing and certification plans
  • Compiling and assessing verification evidence to support cyber certification
  • Providing cyber engineering advice and working closely with engineering leads throughout technical activities
  • Contributing to key system reviews, including SRR, PDR, DDR and TRR
  • Representing the organisation in cyber working groups and engaging with external technical stakeholders

About You

You'll bring strong technical cyber knowledge, along with the ability to apply it within a broader engineering environment and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

We're particularly interested in

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Technology, or equivalent extensive industry experience
  • Experience with network security, including firewalls, IDS/IPS and segmentation
  • Knowledge of system hardening across Windows, Linux and/or embedded platforms
  • Experience across one or more of secure software development, cryptography and key management, or incident detection and response
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST 800-53 and STIGs
  • The ability to simplify complex technical information and communicate it clearly to different audiences
  • A current NV1 security clearance

Why Consider the Opportunity?

The work sits at the intersection of cyber security and systems engineering, with a focus on how security is tested, evidenced and certified within complex technical systems. You'll work alongside engineering specialists and contribute to cyber considerations throughout the broader engineering lifecycle.

There is also a range of employee benefits available, including the option to purchase additional leave and support for professional development and certifications.
