At the heart of the prestigious St. George’s Hill Estate in Surrey, but also open to those from further afield, lies our quintessentially English Lawn Tennis Club.

Originally established in 1913 we have enjoyed celebrating the success and investment of our club. For over one hundred years the vision of the Club has always been to encourage families to enjoy a healthy sporting life in picturesque surroundings.

To support the Senior Management and HOD’s in ensuring the club runs smoothly at all times.

Ideal candidate profile

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about delivering excellent service and creating a positive environment for our members and guests. The ideal candidate will:

  • Exhibit a positive attitude and consistently contribute to a welcoming atmosphere for members and colleagues alike.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Remain calm under pressure and work efficiently as part of a collaborative team.
  • Be flexible and available to work 5 days out of 7 on a rotation basis to include mornings, afternoons and evenings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to operational issues, ensuring the relevant Head of Department (HOD), Maintenance team, or Senior Management is informed to facilitate a timely and positive resolution.
  • Liaise with external contractors, ensuring adherence to club procedures in the absence of the Maintenance team.
  • Manage and document any incidents or emergencies, ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
  • Conduct essential Health & Safety compliance tasks as required.
  • Hold and maintain valid mandatory First Aid and Emergency Response certification.
  • Anticipate and respond to member needs, both on an individual and operational level.
  • Provide cover for team members during breaks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Perform daily opening and closing checks across all areas, addressing any issues and reporting them to Senior Management and the appropriate HOD.
  • Support the maintenance and operation of pool plant facilities in accordance with company standards and Maintenance team’s guidance.
  • Monitor staff punctuality and attendance, ensuring any instances of lateness or sickness are accurately recorded and communicated to the relevant personnel.
  • Address and resolve immediate staffing concerns, including the completion and submission of required documentation.
  • Handle and resolve in-person member complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Undertake basic maintenance tasks in the absence of the Maintenance team.
  • Gain knowledge of all operational areas—including Front-of-House and F&B services to provide cross-departmental support during busy periods.

Desired Skills

  • Duty/Operation manager experience.
  • Front of house/member interaction experience.
  • First Aid.
  • Safeguarding.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £30,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
