About this role

Duty Manager

Statham Lodge Hotel – Lymm, Cheshire

Part-time | Minimum 24 hours per week

Up to £15.38 per hour DOE

Additional hours available during busier periods

Statham Lodge Hotel is looking for an experienced, hands-on Duty Manager to join our management team.

Although the position will provide wider duty-management support across the hotel, its primary focus will be the operational preparation and delivery of weddings, functions, meetings and other events.

The successful candidate will take ownership of events following their handover from the sales team, ensuring that all agreed details are delivered correctly and to a consistently high standard. This is a practical, guest-facing role requiring someone who is comfortable leading the team while remaining actively involved throughout service.

The role will report to the Sales Manager and work closely with the General Manager, kitchen, food and beverage, reception and housekeeping teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Reviewing function sheets and ensuring all operational details are understood
  • Attending function and operational meetings
  • Planning staffing, room layouts, timings and service requirements
  • Briefing the operational team before each event
  • Ensuring function rooms are set correctly and ready on time
  • Managing weddings, functions, meetings and private events on the day
  • Acting as the principal operational contact for the client during their event
  • Coordinating food, beverage and room-service timings
  • Leading and supporting the food and beverage team throughout service
  • Maintaining high standards of presentation, cleanliness and guest service
  • Managing bars, tills, cash procedures and stock controls
  • Handling guest queries, complaints and operational issues confidently
  • Ensuring licensing, health and safety, fire-safety and food-safety procedures are followed
  • Completing event checks, handovers and relevant operational documentation
  • Supporting the setup and breakdown of function rooms when required
  • Providing wider duty-management support throughout the hotel
  • Supporting the bar, restaurant, reception and other operational departments when necessary
  • Providing clear feedback following events and identifying opportunities to improve future delivery

Hours and working pattern

The position is contracted for a minimum of 24 hours per week, ordinarily worked across three days.

Additional hours will be available during busier periods and according to the hotel’s function calendar. The working pattern will be arranged on a week-by-week basis to meet the needs of the business.

Evening and weekend work is an essential requirement of the position. The successful candidate will be expected to manage weddings and functions and must therefore be flexible regarding working days and finishing times.

This is a hands-on operational role and is not an office-based or sales position.

About you

We are looking for someone with

  • Previous hotel, wedding, events or food and beverage supervisory experience
  • Experience managing weddings, functions or other large events
  • Strong leadership and team-management skills
  • Practical bar and restaurant service experience
  • The ability to confidently run a bar, serve guests and support the team during busy periods
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The confidence to brief, direct and motivate an operational team
  • A calm and professional approach when resolving problems
  • Strong communication and guest-service skills
  • Knowledge of licensing, health and safety and food-safety requirements
  • The ability to understand and deliver detailed function sheets
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays and additional hours when required

Previous duty-management experience within a hotel would be particularly advantageous.

What we offer

  • A permanent contract with a minimum of 24 hours per week
  • Competitive hourly pay of Up to £15.38 per hour DOE
  • Opportunities to increase hours during busier periods
  • A varied and responsible operational role
  • Meals while on duty
  • Staff discounts
  • On-site parking
  • The opportunity to work at an established, independent, family-owned hotel
