Overview

Your incident command and multi-agency coordination experience from policing directly apply to leading security at a major retail centre.

About this role

Description

The Opportunity

St Enoch is one of Glasgow’s major city-centre retail destinations, spanning approximately 1 million sq ft and welcoming thousands of customers, tenants and visitors every day.

As the Centre continues to evolve, Praxis has made the decision to create a dedicated Head of Security position, giving security its own senior leadership and strategic focus.

This is a genuine opportunity to take ownership of the entire security function, lead an established team and shape how security operates across one of Glasgow’s busiest retail destinations.

We’re looking for someone resilient, proactive and comfortable operating in challenging environments, someone who can lead from the front, make sound decisions under pressure and bring people with them.

You’ll have overall responsibility for security across the Centre, including:

  • Leading and developing 3–4 Security Managers and the wider security team
  • Setting and delivering the Centre’s security strategy
  • Managing risk, crime prevention, incidents and emergency preparedness
  • Leading counter-terrorism preparedness and Martyn’s Law compliance
  • Building strong relationships with Police Scotland, Glasgow City Council, emergency services and key stakeholders
  • Managing contractors, security systems, budgets and performance
  • Working closely with tenants and Centre Management
  • Using operational insight and data to continuously improve standards
  • Maintaining a visible and professional presence across the Centre

We’re looking for a credible security leader with experience managing large-scale, high-footfall and complex environments.

Your background could be in a shopping centre, stadium, arena, major conference or exhibition venue, transport hub, hotel, leisure destination or similar environment with similar security challenges.

You’ll bring

  • Significant security leadership experience
  • Experience managing large operational teams and security managers
  • Strong knowledge of risk, incidents, crime prevention and emergency response
  • Experience working with Police, emergency services and external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of counter-terrorism and relevant legislation
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The resilience, judgement and confidence to operate in a challenging environment

Most importantly, you’ll take ownership, lead from the front and look for ways to make things better.

Praxis is growing, and so is the opportunity.

This role gives you the chance to establish and lead the dedicated security function at St Enoch, with the potential to play a much broader role as the business and portfolio continue to grow.

If you’re looking for a security leadership role with real ownership, scale and the opportunity to shape something, this could be the next step for you.
