We are now seeking a Helath, Safety & Security Advisor to be absed out of our London or Newcastle office.

Role Responsibilities

H&S governance, roadmap and management system

Support deployment of the H&S roadmap, RED Policy commitments, standards, procedures, tools and records in line with ISO 45001, ENGIE Group requirements and RED operational needs, including commitments relating to wellbeing and psychosocial risk management.

Risk management, assurance and compliance

Provide technical support on risk assessment, psychosocial risk assessment, incident prevention, legal compliance, contractor controls, safe systems of work and operational assurance, ensuring RED Policy commitments are translated into practical controls and responsibilities.

Support incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis (RCA), corrective action tracking and lessons learned, coordinating with the relevant Country Prevention Officer to confirm local accident recording, insurance, legal and regulatory reporting requirements, and escalating significant events through the appropriate RED, Tractebel and ENGIE Group routes.

Monitor legal, standards and ENGIE Group requirements, advising on compliance impacts and supporting office/site inspections, audits, risk assessments and method statements.

Review H&S legal, contractual and procurement requirements for outsourced services, contractors and subconsultants.

Performance, reporting and continuous improvement

Monitor H&S indicators, trends, incidents, corrective actions and lessons learned, preparing clear reports with recommendations and follow-up actions.

Support external H&S audits, ISO 45001 renewals, bids, client requests and third-party portals with accurate H&S evidence.

Culture, capability and engagement

Act as a coach and trusted advisor, influencing without line authority to strengthen H&S ownership, behavioural compliance and engagement.

Design and deliver H&S training, inductions and awareness sessions to promote understanding and behavioural change.

Collaborate and coordinate with HR on employee wellbeing and psychosocial risk management, ensuring RED Policy commitments are reflected in awareness campaigns, consultation activities, risk assessments, action plans, allocation of responsibilities and follow-up of agreed improvement actions.

Participate in or working groups, H&S committees and knowledge-sharing forums to promote best practice and One ENGIE collaboration.

Prepare and present H&S actions, trends and outcomes to Management Teams and ENGIE Group stakeholders as required, with Company Board matters led or sponsored by the Operations Director.

Operate as a specialist advisor within the Operations organisation, providing technical input and coordination while senior governance ownership remains with the Operations Director and relevant BA functional managers.

Support INCOME COR 8a,b,c risk management assessment and compliance.

Security governance, travel and site security coordination

Support the BA Security Manager with office security reviews, risk assessments, action tracking, KPI/incident reporting and INCOME 5 compliance.

Coordinate day-to-day travel security checks for higher-risk travel, including advice, International SOS visibility, alerts, training checks and itinerary validation where required.

Escalate high, extreme or exceptional travel to the BA Security Manager, CSO or relevant senior approval route in line with ENGIE requirements.

Guide Office Managers as Site Security Coordinators, supporting local action plans, awareness, incident reporting and engagement.

Consolidate travel and site security KPIs, lessons learned and reports for RED, Tractebel and ENGIE stakeholders.

Role Requirements

At least 8 years’ experience in a n H&S, security, risk or operational advisory role, preferably in engineering, consultancy, construction or an international business.

ISO 45001 and H&S management system experience beneficial; relevant H&S qualification or professional membership desirable.

Strong knowledge of H&S management systems, ISO 45001, risk management, UK H&S legislation, British Standards and CDM requirements relevant to engineering design consultants.

Familiarity with travel security, duty of care, ISOS, incident escalation, site security coordination and security awareness activities.

Strong analytical, reporting and improvement skills, with ability to interpret indicators, identify trends and recommend practical actions.

Good understanding of wellbeing and psychosocial risk management principles, including RED Policy commitments, HR collaboration, consultation, communication campaigns, action tracking and practical workplace controls.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management, coaching and influencing skills across a matrix structure.

Organised , autonomous and confident using Microsoft Office and reporting tools; fluent English essential, with French or Dutch considered an advantage.

Understanding of H&S, security and risk management in an engineering consultancy, construction or international business
