Lead Cyber Security Architect | Major Cyber Uplift Program
Contract Duration: Initial 12-Month Contract (September 2026 – September 2027)
Daily Rate: $1,350 – $1,550 + Super / day
A major Queensland public sector organisation is embarking on a large-scale, multi-stream Cyber Uplift Program.
We are seeking an experienced Lead Cyber Security Architect to provide strategic architectural leadership, establish governance, and drive target-state cyber security design across complex program streams.
In this role, you will act as the principal technical authority, translating strategic cyber objectives into pragmatic, implementable security designs.
You will collaborate closely with enterprise architects, project delivery teams, operational stakeholders, and executive leadership to ensure solutions align with government policy, industry standards, and risk-reduction targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Leadership & Governance: Establish and govern target-state cyber security architecture principles, standards, and reusable design patterns across concurrent program initiatives.
- Design Assurance: Provide end-to-end security architecture assurance across the project lifecycle (discovery, detailed design, implementation, and operational transition).
- Technical Steering: Serve as the Design Authority across procurement evaluations, vendor solution assessments, and technology selections.
- Stakeholder Management: Translate complex technical security concepts into clear, actionable advice for both technical teams and C-suite/executive stakeholders.
- Mentorship: Mentor architects and technical specialists across delivery streams to build organisational capability and architectural consistency.
What We Are Looking For
Experience & Expertise
- 10+ years of dedicated experience in cyber security architecture and technical leadership.
- Proven track record leading security architecture across large, complex transformation programs.
- Deep experience in large government or highly regulated enterprise environments.
- Ability to operate at a strategic level while actively supporting delivery teams through implementation.
Frameworks & Standards
- Australian Signals Directorate (ASD): Information Security Manual (ISM) & Essential Eight.
- Global Frameworks: NIST CSF (2.0), ISO 27001, SABSA, and/or TOGAF.
Technical Domains
- Microsoft Security Ecosystem & Cloud Security Platforms.
- Identity & Access Management (Entra ID, IGA, PAM).
- Zero Trust Architecture & Conditional Access Frameworks.
- SIEM, Security Operations, and Endpoint Security.
Certifications (Highly Regarded)
- SABSA (Foundation/Practitioner), TOGAF, CISSP, CRISC, CISM, or ASD Essential Eight Assessor.
