Job Description

Your opportunity

Join the Port Authority team as the Manager, Port Security. The role is accountable for auditing and analysing security operations, with a focus on the application of and compliance with the Large Passenger Ship Screening Notice (LPSSN) and Maritime Security Plans. The role also provides security assessments for major events and Port Authority events.

The role is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Sydney reporting to the Senior Manager, Cruise and Security.

Here’s How Your Impact Will Truly Count

  • Accountable for auditing and analysing cruise security screening operations to ensure compliance with the Large Passenger Ship Screening Notice (LPSSN) and Maritime Security Plans.
  • Provide performance monitoring, assessment and analysis of the LPSSN delivery from the security provider.
  • Manage all Port Authority Maritime Security Plans, including internal and external audits, plan renewals and updates in consultation with the Senior Manager, Port Security.
  • Review and strengthen emergency and incident response programs to ensure risks and issues are effectively managed across all Sydney Cruise Terminal operational sites.
  • Provide security assessments for major events and Port Authority events in Sydney.
  • Provide project teams security requirements in relation to all Capital City (Sydney) planning and delivery.
  • Provide updates at Port Security Committee meetings security, Cruise operational forums and Event planning on the national and state security landscapes in relation to maritime, transport, and counterterrorism that relates to places of mass gathering and critical infrastructure.

Desired Skills And Experience

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and Certificate IV in Security Risk, Training & Assessment
  • Proven experience in Maritime Screening (Large Passenger Ship Screening Notice) management
  • Proven experience in security management role, including operational oversight, compliance monitoring and risk-based decision-making
  • Working knowledge of relevant Regulations and Acts, Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act and Critical Infrastructure Act 2021
  • Proven experience international and domestic maritime security auditing and audit program development
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to deal with Government agencies, customers and staff delivering security awareness training to all levels of an organisation

What You’ll Need To Have

  • Display a working knowledge of relevant Regulations and Acts, Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act and Critical Infrastructure Act 2021
  • Lead Auditor qualifications
  • Port Security Officer (PSO), Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) and Company Security Officer (CSO) qualified
  • Cert IV Government – Regulatory Compliance
  • Integrated Governance, Risk Management and Compliance
  • Maritime Auditor course
  • Willing to obtain Negative Vetted -NV1 Security Clearance
  • NSW Drivers Licence
  • MSIC or ability to obtain
