Reporting To: Operations Manager

Roles and Responsibilities

Manage and administer the delivery of the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Builders work where necessary, in terms of proactively managing the key project content, coordination, and milestones including, commercial, planning, engineering, construction, commissioning and handover under limited supervision. Problem resolution, in advance of impact on the works and interface with other disciplines to ensure a successful outcome

Key Objectives*

To manage and lead the MEP works

To interface with a multi discipline project team, to advise the team and fully integrate and coordinate the MEP works into the overall construction process.

Interface with the client in all aspects of the works.

To advise, organise and monitor all phases of the works, including, planning, engineering, construction, commissioning and handover.

Ensure that the works are constructed in accordance with the contract documents including drawings and specifications.

In conjunction with the commercial team lead and manage the commercial and financial issues to maximize the return from the works.

Ensure that the works are undertaken in accordance with the project safety plan.

Ensure the works are undertaken in accordance with the project quality plan

Responsibilities include but not limited to

Technical Oversight

Develop and review MEP design plans, drawings, and technical submissions.

Ensure compliance with local regulations, standards, and safety regulations.

Coordinate with consultants and engineers to resolve design issues.

Manage integration of MEP systems with architectural and structural elements.

Implement wherever practicable the company prefabrication strategy

Coordination and Collaboration

Coordinate work between MEP subcontractors, general contractors, architects, and other stakeholders.

Organize and lead MEP coordination meetings (e.g., clash detection using BIM).

Ensure proper sequencing of MEP activities with overall project milestones.

Project Planning and Scheduling*

Develop detailed MEP project schedules aligned with the main construction schedule.

Monitor progress of MEP works and adjust schedules as necessary.

Forecast and mitigate potential delays and bottlenecks.

Budget and Cost Control

Forecast and control MEP project costs.

Review and approve subcontractor invoices, variations, and change orders.

Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.

Procurement and Resource Management

Manage procurement of MEP equipment, materials, and subcontractors.

Track material delivery schedules and ensure timely availability.

Evaluate supplier and subcontractor performance.

Quality Assurance and Control

Ensure MEP installations meet quality standards and specifications.

Compliance with current SHTM's for Healthcare projects

Conduct regular site inspections and audits.

Supervise testing, commissioning, and handover of MEP systems.

Risk and Safety Management

Identify MEP-related project risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Ensure MEP safety compliance during construction.

Compliance with Pressure systems regulations

Compliance with Gas Safe regulations

Lead incident investigation and corrective actions if required.

Communication and Reporting

Serve as the main point of contact for all MEP-related issues.

Provide regular status updates to senior management and stakeholders.

Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records.

Leadership and Team Management

Lead MEP teams and subcontractors.

Promote collaboration and maintain a productive work environment.

Provide training and mentorship as needed.

Additional Specific Responsibilities (Large/Complex Projects)

Implement Building Information Modelling (BIM) for MEP coordination.

Oversee sustainability and energy efficiency compliance (LEED, Estidama, etc.).

Manage facility integration for smart systems (e.g., BMS, fire alarm, access control)
