About this role

Viden are seeking an experienced Security Operations Engineer to join our growing cyber security team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex security problems, improving defensive capabilities, and working across a diverse range of technologies and environments.

You will be responsible for supporting the operation, engineering and continuous improvement of security technologies and controls, including SIEM, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, network security, identity and access management, logging and monitoring platforms for a critical Government network. Key responsibilities include investigating and responding to security events, developing detection and monitoring capabilities, performing vulnerability analysis, supporting incident response activities, tuning security tools, automating operational security tasks, and assisting clients and internal teams to strengthen their security posture.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for someone with

  • 10+ Years of SOC, cyber security or network engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, networking and cloud environments.
  • Experience deploying and refining SIEM, EDR/XDR technologies.
  • Understanding of incident response, threat detection and SOC opeations.
  • Scripting or automation skills such as PowerShell or Python.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Experience with the ISM, Essential Eight, PSPF or DSPF.
  • Diploma or above in Cyber Security or Network Engineering.
  • Micro-credentials such as GCED, GMON, GCIA, CGIH are all highly regarded.
  • Experience in Federal Government or Defence are all highly regarded.
  • Must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Minimum NV1 Security Clearance.
