About this role

CITEC is seeking a Security Specialist to join its growing Security Operations (SOPs) team. The role requires demonstrated hands-on experience in the administration and support of security technologies, including firewall management, secure VPN services, protective DNS, hardened operating systems, and practical incident response activities related to service operations.

This role is specifically located within Security Operations (SOPs) and It is focused on security infrastructure service delivery and operational support, rather than SOC functions. The role requires demonstrated hands-on experience in the administration and support of security technologies, including firewall management, secure VPN services, protective DNS, hardened operating systems, and practical incident response activities related to service operations.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Current “hands-on” network and security infrastructure, preferably at an enterprise level.
  • Demonstratable proficiency in network security technology such as Juniper SRX, Palo Alto, Cisco, Checkpoint and experience in Azure/AWS connectivity and Security.
  • Strong knowledge in the management and troubleshooting of DNS and protective elements.
  • A self-starter with the motivation and the ability to rapidly acquire new skills in security technologies.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and effective priority/task management ability.
  • Adept in Redhat Linux and/or Microsoft Windows.
  • Clear written and verbal skills with a focus on documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Experience in differing technology such as cloud security, VPNs, IDS/IPS, routing and switching and Load Balancing.
  • Good interpersonal skills to integrate into an established team and to build effective working relationships.
  • A desire for constant professional development and career progression.
  • Knowledge of scripting, automation or dev ops.
