About this role
Senior Operations Manager, Cyber Incident Response
London or Manchester | Hybrid | £80,000 to £100,000
You’ll be the person who keeps a busy cyber incident response team running. Think chief of staff rather than project manager: you’ll oversee every live case, deploy the right people and make sure 24/7 on-call cover holds, even when several incidents land at once.
The essentials
- Salary: £80,000 to £100,000
- Location: London or Manchester, with 60% of your week at client sites or the office
- Clearance: current SC or DV, or eligible and willing to obtain it
- Reporting to the Capability Lead, with 2 to 3 direct reports
What you’ll actually do
- Oversee all live cases, keep priorities straight and give leadership clear, regular status updates
- Deploy incident response case managers and practitioners, and own the 24/7 on-call rota
- Write and own the team’s SOPs, playbooks, standard artefacts and risk management processes
- Track revenue, billing and utilisation, and advise on resourcing
- Project manage the development of in-house incident response tooling
- Contribute to bids and proposals, and act as a client point of contact during incidents when needed
What you’ll need
You don’t need a consulting background or hands-on investigation experience.
Essential
- Experience in an operations, chief of staff or similar role, managing specialist teams
- Experience leading people through high-pressure situations, including pastoral care
- The presence to be credible with senior clients and to hold senior leaders to account
- Clear, structured writing: you can turn a messy situation into a sharp update or SOP
- Strong personal organisation; you build the process rather than wait for one
- Enough technical understanding to follow an incident and speak the team’s language
Nice to have
- A background in the Armed Forces or another operational environment
- Cyber Security or incident response experience
- Budgeting, resource allocation or commercial experience
- A project management qualification
What’s in it for you
- Nationally significant incidents across government, defence, critical infrastructure and financial services
- Investment in certifications and training
- A clear path to director, through a commercial or delivery route, with a strong route towards partner
- The chance to shape a fast-growing capability
