We are seeking a proactive and reliable *School Site Manager*to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring our school building, grounds and facilities are safe, well-maintained, and compliant - creating a secure and positive environment for all of our pupils, staff and visitors.

Hours:**37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to support occasional evenings, weekends and emergency call-outs as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance (basic carpentry, plumbing, painting).
  • Conduct routine inspections and respond promptly to maintenance issues.
  • Support health and safety compliance, including fire safety and water hygiene checks.
  • Maintain external areas such as playgrounds, paths and car parks.
  • Assist with site security, opening/closing procedures and emergency responses.
  • Log completed works and assist with audits and inspections.
  • Provide support for school activities and liaise courteously with staff, pupils and visitors.

What We’re Looking For

  • Practical experience in building maintenance, caretaking or facilities work.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to carry out minor repairs safely and competently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Flexible, trustworthy and a child-focused approach.

Desirable

  • Experience in a school or education setting.
  • Basic trade qualifications (or NVQs).
  • Familiarity with fire safety and water hygiene procedures.

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to undergo DBS checks.
  • Basic IT skills - for logging jobs and emails.

Safeguarding

Compass Community Schools are highly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services(previously the Criminal Records Bureau) and undergo due diligence checks on social media use.
