Dedicated Security Officer - Leeds and Surrounding Areas (Support Officer)Job Overview

As a Dedicated Security Officer, you will be responsible for protecting our clients' people, property, and assets while delivering a professional, customer-focused security service. Working in accordance with site Assignment Instructions (AI's), company policies, and statutory requirements, you will help maintain a safe and secure environment while meeting agreed service levels and performance standards.

You will be expected to demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and flexibility, while undertaking ongoing training and development to enhance your skills and support operational excellence.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations

  • Carry out all security duties in line with site Assignment Instructions (AI's), company policies, and relevant legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager.
  • Regularly review Assignment Instructions and identify opportunities to improve service delivery and site security.
  • Maintain a valid SIA licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervision) and CCTV licence where required by the client.
  • Complete all site-specific tasks and responsibilities to a high standard.
  • Follow instructions, procedures, and company processes professionally and effectively.
  • Work in a structured, organised, and methodical manner at all times.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while representing both Mitie and the client professionally.

Training and Development

  • Complete all mandatory and site-specific training requirements.
  • Participate in additional training and development activities as directed by management.
  • Utilise technology and company systems effectively to support operational requirements.
  • Maintain professional competence and ensure all licences and certifications are renewed within required timescales.

Security and Health & Safety

  • Remain vigilant and proactive in identifying security risks, suspicious activity, and potential threats.
  • Report all health and safety concerns, hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly.
  • Take appropriate action to minimise disruption, loss, or damage to client property and assets.
  • Respond professionally and calmly to incidents, emergencies, and challenging situations.
  • Record incidents accurately and maintain detailed notebook entries and reports.
  • Complete scheduled patrols, check calls, and welfare checks in accordance with site requirements.
  • Liaise with emergency services and the Communication Centre when required.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience within the security industry.
  • Valid SIA Security Guarding or Door Supervisor Licence.
  • CCTV SIA Licence (where required by the client).
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Professional, reliable, and adaptable approach to work.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and security procedures.
  • Full UK driving licence desirable.
  • SC Clearance or ability to obtain SC Clearance desirable.
  • Flexibility to work across Leeds and surrounding areas as required.
