About this role

About the Business

Our client is an Australian-owned electronic security business that has been operating for more than 16 years, with operations across VIC, NSW and QLD.

The business specialises across three key areas

  • Solar Security - innovative security solutions for remote and off-grid environments including construction, agriculture and other locations without reliable power.
  • Fixed Security Solutions - CCTV and electronic security solutions across residential, commercial and retail environments.
  • Guarding & Alarm Response - security personnel and alarm response services.

With approximately 3,000 cameras deployed nationally and a strong portfolio of established clients, the business continues to experience year-on-year growth and is looking to strengthen its Victorian production operation.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Technician or Technical Supervisor who is ready to take the next step into leadership.

Based from the company's factory in south-east of Melbourne, you will lead a team of technicians responsible for building, configuring, testing, maintaining and deploying the company's solar-powered security systems.

You'll still be technical and hands-on, but instead of spending every day driving from site to site, you'll have the opportunity to lead from the workshop, develop your team and take ownership of the operation.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Lead and manage a team of production and installation technicians.
  • Plan and allocate daily production, installation, removal and maintenance activities.
  • Build, program, configure, test and commission security systems.
  • Diagnose faults and troubleshoot technical issues across security systems.
  • Configure cameras, routers, antennas, SIM cards and connectivity solutions.
  • Ensure completed systems are tested, clean, functional and ready for deployment.
  • Manage local stock levels, procurement, suppliers and job costing.
  • Provide technical support to the team and occasionally attend site when an extra pair of hands or technical expertise is required.

The Technology

The role involves building bespoke solar security systems from the ground up, combining off-the-shelf equipment into tailored solutions for clients.

You'll work with technologies including

  • Dahua cameras
  • Teltonika routers
  • NX Witness
  • SIM-based systems

You'll be responsible for taking equipment from its initial arrival through to configuration, testing, commissioning and deployment.

What We're Looking For

This role is ideally suited to an experienced security professional who has spent several years on the tools and is now looking for a leadership opportunity.

You might currently be a

  • Senior Security Technician
  • Lead Technician
  • Security Supervisor
  • Security Team Leader

You'll ideally bring

  • Strong hands-on experience installing, building and commissioning electronic security systems.
  • Solid IP CCTV, networking and cabling experience.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising or mentoring technicians.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • A practical understanding of quality control and safe work practices.
  • The ability to train and develop junior technicians.

Essential Requirements

  • Current Victorian Security Licence
  • Current Victorian Driver Licence
  • Current White Card
  • Current First Aid Certificate
