Job Summary

The core purpose of the Transport Duty Manager - Safety and Compliance is to lead a team bus operators towards safely, efficiently, and reliably exceeding the service delivery expectations of Swissport’s clients (airlines & airport operators) and their customers on a daily basis. The duty manager – Safety and Compliance will lead the management of safety and compliance matters for the Transport Services business unit in Brisbane. This will involve incident investigation, reporting, overseeing safety recommendation and action implementation, ensuring safety and training compliance and reviewing standard operating procedures/policies with a focus on continuous improvement. This role will entail direct engagement with frontline teams, customers and management.

Your activities

  • Experience in incident investigation and the implementation of safety recommendations and actions
  • Ability to demonstrate high-level personal qualities in relation to adaptability, flexibility, and commitment.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and time management skills.
  • Experience in performance management including corrective performance measures and disciplinary matters.
  • Experience in ensuring training compliance is achieved.
  • Able to work morning, afternoon and weekend shifts or as reasonably directed by Swissport management (as the role requires from time to time).
  • Experience in large transport operations (bussing operations viewed favourably)
  • Experience with airline administration systems (desirable).
  • Hold a current HR licence and Driver Authority (DA) (desirable).
  • Sound knowledge of Government Regulations related to transport operations.

Your profile

  • Ensure all bussing operations meet Swissport and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure all training documents are current and relevant
  • Manage the onboarding of new drivers.
  • Ensure that all training and compliance activities are up-to-date.
  • Conduct high standard safety investigations and complete associated reports in a timely manner.
  • Development and regular review of standard operating procedures.
  • Report and investigate accidents and incidents via the company online reporting system.
  • Participation and involvement with relevant authorities including participation on relevant committees and working groups.
  • Regular completion of bsusing operations and office safety and security audits.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety and work culture within the workforce, driving safe operation of buses, customer service, compliance and incident reporting.
  • Report all hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, or dangerous occurrences to the manager and via the online safety reporting system
