Are you a vigilant and dedicated professional looking for a rewarding career in security? We are seeking a reliable and proactive Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for our staff, visitors, and assets. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring premises, conducting patrols, responding to incidents, and ensuring that security protocols are upheld at all times. If you have strong observational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle situations calmly and professionally, we would love to hear from you!

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for

• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to create a welcoming, helpful and professional visitor

experience.

• Ability to remain vigilant, approachable and professional while acting as a visible deterrent.
• Understanding of public protection, asset protection and the importance of protecting museum objects,

collections and exhibitions.

• Ability to work varied shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with visitors, colleagues,

contractors, emergency services and stakeholders.

• Work collaboratively with Visitor Experience teams to support safe, positive and inclusive visitor

journeys.

• Respond calmly and proportionately to incidents, welfare concerns, conflict situations and emergencies
• Support access control, queue management, patrols, incident response, emergency procedures and

visitor-facing security activity. accordance with procedures.

What we are looking for

• To hold a current DS SIA Licence
• Proven experience in a security role or a similar position.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and respond to security threats.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and authorities.
• Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
