Sodexo is seeking an organised and customer-focused Assistant Facilities Manager to oversee the delivery of integrated facilities services at a key client location in Birmingham.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team with an October 2026 start date.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced facilities professional who thrives in a varied, hands-on role and enjoys leading teams, building client relationships and ensuring high standards across multiple service lines.

Acting as Sodexo’s principal on-site contact, you will coordinate catering, hospitality, cleaning and wider facilities services, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations that deliver an excellent workplace experience.

Reporting to the Regional Facilities Services Manager, you will provide day-to-day leadership to the Catering Lead and Cleaning Supervisor while coordinating specialist contractors, suppliers and support services.

You will maintain a visible presence on site, oversee service performance, support compliance activities, manage resources and resolve operational issues quickly and professionally

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate the delivery of catering, hospitality, cleaning and facilities services across the site.

Lead and support local service teams, driving engagement, performance and development.

Ensure services meet contractual standards, KPIs and customer expectations.

Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and respond promptly to service requests.

Conduct inspections, audits and quality checks to maintain high standards.

Coordinate contractors, suppliers and specialist support services.

Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.

Manage delegated budgets, labour, consumables and operational resources.

Support audits, incident management and business continuity arrangements.

Drive service improvements and sustainable working practices.

What we're looking for

We are looking for an experienced facilities professional with a proactive approach and a passion for delivering outstanding service.

Essential

Experience within facilities management, workplace services, hospitality or a similar operational environment.

Experience coordinating multiple service lines and leading teams or supervisors.

Good knowledge of catering, hospitality, cleaning and general facilities management services.

Experience monitoring performance against KPIs, service standards and customer expectations.

Understanding of health and safety, risk management and compliance requirements.

Excellent customer service and stakeholder management skills.

Experience managing staffing, rotas, attendance and colleague performance.

Experience coordinating contractors, suppliers and specialist service providers.

Strong organisational, problem-solving and prioritisation skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.

Good IT skills, including reporting, audit and workplace management systems.

Desirable

IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent health and safety qualification.

Food Safety qualification or practical catering experience.

Experience within a corporate or client-facing environment.

Experience managing both directly delivered and outsourced services.

Membership of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) or another relevant professional body.

Knowledge of emergency response and business continuity processes.
