Overview

Your incident command experience and disciplined approach to triage and escalation translate directly to SOC environments.

About this role

Join a fast-paced Security Operations Centre (SOC) environment where you will support threat detection, security monitoring, and incident response activities. Working alongside experienced cyber security professionals, you will gain hands-on experience with industry-leading security tools and technologies while developing your skills in incident triage, investigation, and escalation. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the protection of customer environments and support the delivery of effective cyber security operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

  • Monitor and triage multiple SIEM and EDR platforms on a 24/7 basis, accurately identifying false positives, investigating potential threats, and escalating genuine security incidents as required.
  • Conduct initial incident classification by assessing the severity and impact of security events against established criteria to determine the appropriate escalation path and response priority.
  • Perform preliminary incident analysis to gather relevant information, establish context, and support higher-tier analysts with detailed investigations.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with internal stakeholders and customers, providing incident notifications, investigation updates, and status reports as required.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of security events, incidents, investigations, and response activities.
  • Log, investigate, and respond to customer requests for additional security analysis and investigations.
  • Work onsite during rostered hours from 6:00 am and 2:00 pm.
  • Provide shift coverage (occasionally), including 12-hour day and night rotations.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

  • A current Australian Government Clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
  • Relevant cyber security qualifications, certifications, or demonstrated experience in security operations, IT support, networking, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate security alerts and assess potential threats.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document incidents and engage with stakeholders.
  • A keen interest in cyber security and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Availability to work onsite and participate in rostered shifts as required.
