About this role

Objectives

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment within a secure facility through effective security measures.
  • ensure the safe and efficient movement of passengers, crew, staff and airport users in accordance with aviation security regulations, operating procedures and client requirements.
  • Support the overall security strategy by always maintaining vigilance and readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening of passengers, staff, hand baggage and hold baggage using approved screening equipment.
  • Previous experience is a MUST.
  • Perform searches of vehicles, lounges and secure areas in accordance with security requirements.
  • Prevent unauthorised access to restricted areas and respond appropriately to security incidents.
  • Support passengers, crew and luggage movements between terminal facilities and aircraft.
  • Investigate and report suspicious persons, unattended items and security concerns.
  • Maintain compliance with aviation security regulations, procedures and audit requirements.
  • Complete incident reports and maintain accurate operational records.
  • Conduct daily equipment checks and report defects or serviceability concerns.
  • Carry out escorting duties within secure areas when required.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and always deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Comply with client security policies, Local Security Strategies (LSS), and national security guidelines.
  • Provide professional assistance and support to staff, visitors, and stakeholders, maintaining a positive security presence.
  • Complete accurate documentation including security logs, incident reports, and compliance records.
  • Be aware of their role in any business continuity event/incident
  • Be familiar with local business continuity plans and understand local business continuity risks and the actions in place to mitigate exposure to risk
  • Participate fully in all Social Value and Sustainability initiatives, supporting the client's environmental and community objectives.

  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received
  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or the client.
  • Information Security
  • Ensure compliance with Mitie's and Clients information security procedures in all activities
  • Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager
  • Report actual and suspected security incidents

Competencies

  • Vigilance and observation: The role requires constant monitoring of the environment, including observing the critical part of the air base, protecting aircrafts and driving between the terminal and the aircraft.
  • Response and incident management: The officer must be able to quickly identify and respond to security risks, threats, or suspicious behaviour and manage incidents as they occur.
  • Access control and verification: Enforcing access control measures and verifying clearances are crucial for maintaining a secure environment.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: Providing assistance to staff, visitors, and stakeholders and maintaining a positive security presence requires clear communication and good interpersonal skills.
  • Compliance and documentation: Adhering to security policies and guidelines, as well as documenting incidents and compliance records accurately, is essential.
  • Professional development and training: Ongoing training and development in conflict resolution, emergency response, and awareness of security threats are necessary to perform effectively in this role.

Person Profile

  • 5 Year UK History
  • Role subject to clear background checks including, DBS Counter Terrorist Check (CTC), Security Check SC.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to shift work and operational requirements.
  • Full clean UK driving license (essential).
  • Additional language skills would be advantageous.

  • Primary Stakeholders: The client, Law enforcement and emergency services,
  • Secondary Stakeholders: Staff, visitors, contractors, and legal authorities.
