We have an exciting opportunity for a Cyber Governance & Risk Analyst to join Swinburne's Cyber Security team.

As an integral part of the Cyber Security team, you will help strengthen the University's cyber resilience by delivering pragmatic, business-focused security and risk services across a range of strategic initiatives.

Working closely with stakeholders across the University, you will lead third-party vendor risk assessments, conduct solution risk reviews, coordinate penetration testing activities, and provide expert guidance on cybersecurity governance and risk management. Your ability to identify and mitigate security risks will play a key role in protecting Swinburne's digital environment and supporting secure innovation.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Perform security assessments of third-party vendors to evaluate their compliance with organizational security requirements.
  • Review and analyze vendor security documentation, including SOC reports and ISO certifications, and other compliance evidence.
  • Identify risks associated with third-party services and collaborate with stakeholders to mitigate them. Produce Risk Assessment documentation.
  • Conduct security risk assessments for proposed IT and business solutions to ensure alignment with organizational security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with project teams to identify potential security risks in new or modified applications, systems, or services.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for coordinating penetration testing activities for new projects.
  • Liaise with internal teams, external vendors, and testing partners to define scope, schedule, and objectives of penetration tests.
  • Assess, evaluate and make recommendations to management regarding the adequacy of existing security controls and perform security assessments for new and proposed initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications:
  • Preferred: CISSP, CISA, CRISC, or similar certifications.
  • Bonus: Specific certifications in vendor risk management or penetration testing (e.g., CPRA, OSCP).
