Cyber Security Operations Engineer

About Eftsure

Eftsure is a global fraud prevention and payments protection platform, helping businesses protect themselves from payment fraud, cyber threats, and financial crime. We're on a mission to make every payment safe, and we're growing rapidly across Australia, New Zealand, North America, and beyond.

As our platform and global footprint continue to expand, we're looking for a Cyber Security Operations Engineer to join our Information Security team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys investigating security events, improving detection capabilities, automating processes, and working with modern cloud and security technologies in a collaborative environment.

As a Cyber Security Operations Engineer, you'll play a key role in protecting Eftsure's people, platforms, and customers by monitoring, investigating, and responding to security events across our cloud-first environment.

You'll work closely with Security, IT, Infrastructure, and Engineering teams to strengthen our security posture, improve detection and response capabilities, and help automate security operations through modern tooling and AI-driven workflows.

This role is ideal for someone with around 2+ years of experience in Security Operations or Cyber Security who is eager to continue developing their technical skills while making a real impact.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Monitor and triage security alerts across SIEM, EDR/XDR, email security, identity, endpoint, cloud, SaaS, and SASE platforms.
  • Investigate security incidents, determine root causes, and support containment, remediation, and post-incident reviews.
  • Assist with proactive threat hunting by developing meaningful threat scenarios across Eftsure's cloud and corporate environments.
  • Improve threat detection by tuning SIEM analytics, detection rules, policies, and exception lists to reduce false positives.
  • Help automate security operations using technologies such as Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, APIs, and AI assistants to improve response times.
  • Support detection engineering by helping develop and deploy detection-as-code content through CI/CD workflows.
  • Assist with identity and access security, including SSO, OAuth integrations, and Entra ID administration.
  • Support endpoint security, security baselines, patch management, and device compliance using Microsoft Intune.
  • Partner with Infrastructure and Engineering teams to improve security across Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, Entra ID, and endpoint environments.
  • Support vulnerability management by triaging findings, prioritising risk, and assisting with remediation activities.
  • Participate in security audits, access reviews, and compliance activities aligned with ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2, and GDPR.
  • Contribute to security awareness initiatives, phishing simulations, and security training across the business.
  • Report on key security metrics and contribute to the continuous improvement of Eftsure's Information Security Management System.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who is curious, collaborative, and passionate about cyber security.

You'll ideally have

  • Around 2+ years of experience in Security Operations, Cyber Security, Security Analysis, GRC, or a related technical role.
  • Experience working with modern security technologies such as SIEM, EDR/XDR, identity management, email security, vulnerability management, DLP, SaaS security, or SASE solutions.
  • Hands-on experience investigating security incidents, analysing logs, and performing structured root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with security platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender XDR, Entra ID, or similar technologies.
  • Experience automating workflows using PowerShell, Python, Logic Apps, Power Automate, APIs, or similar tools.
  • An interest in applying AI assistants and copilots to improve security operations and automation.
  • Understanding of security and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2, or GDPR.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across both technical and non-technical teams.
  • A customer-first mindset and a practical approach to balancing security with business needs.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Industry certifications such as ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC), CompTIA Security+, Microsoft SC-900, or similar.
  • Exposure to AWS cloud security (beneficial but not essential).

Why Join Eftsure?

At Eftsure, you'll be part of a collaborative, innovative team that's passionate about solving real-world security challenges.

We offer

  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
  • A supportive, high-performing team environment
  • Opportunities to work with modern cloud and security technologies
  • Ongoing learning and professional development
  • Career growth within a rapidly scaling global technology company
  • Competitive salary and employee benefits

If you're excited about protecting businesses from cyber threats while continuing to grow your security career, we'd love to hear from you.
