Description & Requirements

Working in tech at Australia Post is where innovation and problem solving meets great people and agile working. You’ll work with bright people on building and maintaining products and services that you and every other Australian get to benefit from every day. Whether you’re working from our modern office or your one at home, you’ll be part of a culture of collaboration and connection, making long-lasting impact right across Australia.

About the opportunity

As our Cyber Security Specialist, you'll play a critical role in strengthening Australia Post's cyber resilience by validating and testing the security controls that protect our organisation from evolving threats. Reporting to the Cyber Threat Protection Manager, you'll work across Cyber Defence, Technology and Security teams to assess control effectiveness, automate testing capabilities and provide assurance that our security controls are operating as intended.

You’ll also

  • Assess, validate and continuously improve security controls across technologies.
  • Develop automation and scripting solutions.
  • Conduct threat-informed testing and cyber resilience assessments using adversary techniques and industry frameworks.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify control weaknesses, drive remediation outcomes and improve Australia's cyber security posture.

About you

You're naturally curious, proactive and thrive on solving complex security challenges. You enjoy collaborating with others, influencing outcomes and finding practical solutions that balance risk with business needs. A strong communicator, you're equally comfortable discussing technical concepts with specialists and translating insights for broader stakeholder groups.

You’ll also need

  • Experience in cyber security, cyber assurance, security operations or security engineering, with a strong understanding of enterprise security controls.
  • Hands-on scripting and automation experience using Python, PowerShell or similar technologies to improve security processes and outcomes.
  • Knowledge of cyber security frameworks and threat-centric approaches, including MITRE ATT&CK, threat-informed testing and endpoint security technologies.

What else is in it for you?

  • Make a genuine impact by helping protect one of Australia's most recognised brands from an evolving cyber threat landscape.
  • Work across a broad range of technologies, giving you exposure rarely found in more specialised security roles.
  • Join a collaborative, supportive and highly skilled Cyber Defence team that values ideas, innovation and continuous learning.
  • Bring your whole self to work every day and be met by a welcoming bunch of people who respect and support you.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, including three days per week in our Melbourne office.
  • Opportunities for growth and development through formal programs or mentorship
  • Exclusive team member discounts and offers for more cash in your pocket, and access to health and wellbeing resources
