Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We’re looking for a Financial Crime Risk Assessment (FCRA) Senior Analyst to join our Compliance Department's FCRA team.

The FCRA team is responsible for the effective identification, assessment, management and reporting of financial crime risks across the EMEA region via the execution and delivery of financial crime risk assessments, reporting into the FCRA Manager.

During execution and delivery, the Senior Analyst will lead engagement with assigned business stakeholders, providing strategic guidance and challenge on financial crime risk across business lines to drive risk-based decision making and embed a proactive risk culture across the organisation. The role does not involve any line mananagement responsibility, but has oversight of deliverables created by junior analysts.

Alongside BAU delivery, the role-holder will be expected to design and drive the delivery of enhancements to the FCRA programme and methodology, with a focus on analytical and reporting capabilities.

Business Area

The Financial Crime Risk Assessment team sits within the Financial Crime Governance & Strategy function of the Compliance Department (2nd line of defence role).

Position Description

Core responsibilities

Delivery of the risk assessment process across the EMEA region, with oversight of the preparation and execution of deliverables by junior analysts.

Managing the collection, analysis and interpretation of financial crime risk data to identify trends, emerging risks, control weaknesses and areas requiring management attention.

Reviewing and challenging identified risks and effectiveness of financial crime controls across legal entities and business lines.

Co-ordinating with EMEA Financial Crime Leadership and regional MLROs to deliver risk assessments which remain compliant to regulatory requirements and industry standard.

Conducting effective reviews and assessment of relevant regulatory updates, changes and enforcement actions that can feed into the risk assessment.

Attending external training and forums to keep up to date with industry trends, regulatory and market expectations.

Driving implementation of enhancements arising from regulatory developments, audit findings, thematic reviews and industry best practice.

Engaging with internal stakeholders with regards to tracking and remediation of outstanding issues and deliverables.

Designing and implementing data-driven reporting frameworks that provide meaningful insights into the financial crime risk profile of the organisation.

Developing and maintaining dashboards using Power BI to support risk-based decision-making and governance oversight by executives and Board-level stakeholders.

Driving the automation and optimisation of processes to improve efficiency, accuracy and transparency of financial crime risk reporting.

Key experience

Demonstrable experience working in financial crime related role(s), in particular within risk assessments, with responsibility for the identification, assessment and reporting of financial crime risks.

Advanced analytical skills with proven ability to interpret large and complex data sets to support risk assessments and strategic decision making, preferably with experience designing, developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports.

Strong report writing skills with previous experience producing reports for senior management.

Demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, balancing regulatory rigour with commercial awareness.

Strong understanding of UK and EU financial crime regulatory frameworks.

Strong ability to manage competing priorities.

Relevant professional qualifications (ICA, ACAMS or equivalent) desirable.
