About this role

Guys and St. Thomas NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit 4x Healthcare security officers, to join an industry wide respected and diverse team. GSTT is one of London's most famous hospitals and prominent London landmarks – largely due to St Thomas’ Hospital location opposite the Houses of Parliament and Guy’s Hospital next to London Bridge station and opposite the Shard.

The role requires applicants to professionally negotiate the challenging demands of healthcare security in a busy 24/7 London hospital. If you care about people, their wellbeing and are able to cope with the challenges of a busy hospital environment, this could be for you.

We are looking to support our community with determined, kind, customer service focused and hard-working individuals from all backgrounds. Customer service experience, verbal and written English language and computer skills are essential to join the team.

Shift patterns are 4 on 4 off, 12-hour shifts spanning days, nights and weekends.

Extensive training will be provided to all successful candidates.

  • To work with fellow Healthcare Security Officers to provide a professional security service that will protect, offer advice, investigate and act in an endeavor to create and maintain a safe and crime-free environment for staff, patients and visitors 24 hours a day, 365 days per annum
  • To work with and alongside, other Trust colleagues to ensure that staff, patients and visitors are assisted, at all times and in any appropriate matters, in a manner that reflects positively on the Trust and the service
  • The security team throughout the Trust are required to balance the needs of the visitors experience with the security of the premises. Good interpersonal skills with strong oral communication are essential. Officers will be required to maintain a high level of personal appearance, be physically fit and able to conduct themselves appropriately in a customer facing role at all times. The ability to work as a team member and to support colleagues in the completion of their duties are essential within this role
  • To act as an ambassador for the Department, Directorate and the Trust ensuring that their conduct is of the highest professional level

The post holder will be part of a very well respected, dynamic and skilled team with the ability to build on the strengths and experiences of the current security team, yet be flexible enough to ensure the needs and objectives of both the service and the Trust are met. To be primarily employed on the Guy’s & St Thomas main sites working a twenty-four hour shift based pattern.

It is the responsibility of all employees to work within the security policies and procedures at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust to protect the patients, staff and visitors and the property of the Trust. This duty applies to the specific work area of the individual and the Hospital in general. All staff are required to wear official identification badges.

As a Healthcare Security officer, your role is pivotal in upholding a secure and enjoyable atmosphere for all our staff patients and visitors in the Hospitals we serve. You will be responsible for managing the safety and wellbeing of all, as part of the emergency response team and daily operational tasks ensuring full compliance with all safety and security protocols. Your role is essential in preventing incidents and handling any situations that may arise with professionalism and efficiency.
