Overview

Your operational policing background gives you a disciplined approach to risk identification and mitigation, which is the core of this role. You are used to documenting procedures and ensuring compliance with standards, which translates directly to writing and enforcing security policies. However, this role requires deep, hands-on experience in cloud-native information security, vulnerability management, and tooling like Vanta, which is a significant retraining step from policing.

About this role

Description

This role will be based in London with travel to Fleet when needed.

Who are we: Tempcover is at the forefront of the fast-growing world of short-term insurance. Our mission is to make car insurance flexible, quick, and easy for drivers. We've sold millions of policies that have helped drivers get where they need to go, but we're not finished there. We're growing our team to help us continue in that mission. If you are extraordinary at what you do and want to be a part of a rapidly growing business at the cutting edge of the InsureTech industry, we would love to hear from you!

The Opportunity: As Information Security Manager, you'll join Tempcover at a critical stage in our growth. You'll take ownership of our information security strategy, with the autonomy to shape policies, standards and controls from the ground up. This is a role where your judgement will directly protect the business, our systems and our people, while you evolve how security enables rather than blocks the way we work.

You'll be working in a small, close-knit team, so your impact is felt immediately, not lost in layers of process. We're entirely cloud-native and forward-leaning on tooling, already using platforms like Vanta to keep compliance and controls sharp rather than manual. As we scale, we want to scale security with AI, so there's real scope to bring GenAI into how we manage risk and drive better practice, not just talk about it.

As Tempcover scales, so does the mandate, including the opportunity to build out a security function of your own.

Key Responsibilities**

  • Coordinate, define and improve information security strategy to meet business requirements and executive policies of Tempcover
  • Identifying and managing security risks across our organisation
  • Evolving our policies, standards and procedures
  • Ensuring that our staff understand and live security
  • Ensure standards and controls operate as required across all IT services, maintaining systems and operations to identify and eliminate security vulnerabilities through routine practices (vulnerability scanning and software patching) and strategic solutions that increase information security

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • What we're looking for in you:
  • A background doing information security
  • An appreciation of how security can enable businesses
  • Experience working in a cloud-native organisation
  • Documentation of controls, standards and procedures
  • Proven track record in an information security management role, including successfully implementing operational best practices through effective policies, standards and controls, and assuring business continuity and operation of service

Things that might set you apart

  • Use of GenAI to drive better security practices in an organisation
  • Knowledge about privacy/data protection
  • Relevant certification e.g. CISSP, CRISC, CISM
  • Strong project and programme management skills, having successfully delivered change programmes using a combination of agile and hybrid/agile methodologies

We want to give you a great work environment, contribute back to both your personal and professional development, and give you great benefits to make your time at RVU even more enjoyable. Some of these benefits include:

A competitive salary and bonus package Employer matching pension up to 7.5% Hybrid approach of in-office and remote working, combining office and home each week 'Work from Home' budget to help contribute towards a great work environment at home Excellent maternity, paternity and adoption leave policy, for those key moments in your life Regular virtual events, from company-wide events with insightful external speakers to virtual coffee chats with colleagues Health insurance
