Overview

Your experience with regulatory compliance and audit processes in policing translates directly to maintaining SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

About this role

Electricity grids are undergoing the most significant transformation in a century. The shift to renewables, the proliferation of rooftop solar, batteries and EVs, and the increasing complexity of distribution networks are forcing utilities to operate their grids in fundamentally new ways. Gridsight's vertical SaaS platform uses data, ML and AI to help grid operators modernise their operations and unlock transformational new capabilities. We deliver visibility into the grid edge, faster renewable connections, and real-time orchestration of distributed energy. The opportunity is enormous ($1B+ ARR).

We're embedded with over 50% of Australia's distribution networks, more than 30% in New Zealand, and have 1 of the top 5 utilities in the US as our lighthouse. Airtree led our Series A, we grew ARR 3.4x in the past 6 months, we just closed our Series B led by a major US fund, and we're on the path to build the first truly generational utility software company.

We are a team of builders. What unites us is that we’re curious, hungry and obsessed with maximising the impact we can deliver to Gridsight and the energy transition. If that sounds like you, come join us!

The Role

Gridsight is scaling fast - more people, more devices, more systems, and a growing set of enterprise customers. We’re hiring an IT Operations Manager to own IT operations end-to-end: from the laptop a new hire opens on day one, to the access they lose on their last day, to maintaining our SOC 2 compliance and leading us towards ISO 27001 certification.

You’ll be the first dedicated owner of this space, reporting to our VP of Operations. This is a great fit for someone who wants full ownership of a critical function, is comfortable building processes from the ground up, and cares as much about the employee experience as audit readiness.

What You’ll Own

IT Operations & Infrastructure

  • Own IT operations across Gridsight, including devices, SaaS tools, endpoint management and vendor relationships.
  • Be the first point of contact for day-to-day IT support, resolving issues quickly and minimising disruption.
  • Own and administer the systems that keep the company running, including MDM, identity and access management, and IT ticketing.
  • Evaluate and introduce new tools and processes as the company grows.
  • Build clear, practical documentation so IT knowledge is accessible, repeatable and scalable

Employee Lifecycle & Access Control

  • Own the technology experience across the employee lifecycle, ensuring every new joiner has the right hardware, accounts and access from day one.
  • Manage offboarding end-to-end, ensuring access is revoked promptly and company devices and data are handled securely.
  • Own access management across the company, including periodic access reviews.
  • Partner with engineering and product on developer/engineer tooling access and provision.
  • Partner closely with People, Talent and hiring managers to make onboarding and offboarding seamless for everyone involved.

Security Compliance Ownership

  • Maintain our SOC 2 Type II compliance, including coordinating audits, collecting evidence and ensuring controls operate effectively throughout the year.
  • Lead Gridsight towards ISO 27001 certification and own its ongoing maintenance once achieved.
  • Partner with Engineering and leadership to address control gaps and continuously strengthen our security posture as the business scales.
  • Own IT security policies, ensuring they remain current, practical and understood across the company.
  • Own completion of security questionnaires (including uplevelling our AI tooling to complete these autonomously)
  • Build security and compliance into day-to-day operations, rather than treating them as annual audit exercises.

Who You Are

  • You take genuine ownership: you identify what needs to be done, act without waiting for direction and follow through to completion.
  • You’re comfortable being the first dedicated person in a function and building the processes, systems and structure needed for it to scale.
  • You’re equally comfortable setting direction and handling day-to-day work, from improving company-wide controls to troubleshooting an employee’s laptop.
  • You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences and can make IT, security and compliance requirements practical and easy to understand.
  • You’re highly organised, dependable and attentive to detail, particularly when managing access, devices and audit evidence.
  • You care about the employee experience and understand that effective IT should make secure ways of working straightforward.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience owning IT operations and/or security compliance (SOC2, ISO27001 or similar) at a scaling company, ideally SaaS.
  • Hands-on experience with access management, identity providers, and device/endpoint management tooling.
  • A track record of running or contributing to compliance audits (SOC2 Type II, ISO27001 or similar frameworks).

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary. We hold high expectations, but pay accordingly.
  • Meaningful ESOP so you share in the growth of Gridsight.
  • $2,500 WFH allowance, $2,500 health and wellness allowance, bi-annual in person working weeks, and lunch is on us when you’re in office.
  • Work how you like. Fully remote, hybrid or in office with a fresh, new head office in Sydney and satellite spaces in Melbourne, Brisbane and Hobart.
