About this role

Overview

The Physical Security & Resilience Practice forms part of the Design and Advanced Technology team within AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure. We provide specialist security consultancy services across the UK and internationally, supporting clients in delivering safe, secure and resilient infrastructure.

Our work spans the full project lifecycle, from strategic advisory services and security risk assessments through to concept design, technical assurance and operational readiness. We work across a wide range of sectors including Transportation, Defence, Government, Nuclear, Energy and Critical National Infrastructure.

As a Junior Security Consultant, you will work alongside experienced consultants on a variety of challenging projects, developing your technical knowledge while contributing to the delivery of high-quality security solutions.

Our services include

  • Security risk assessments, including Threat, Vulnerability and Risk Assessments (TVRAs) and Security Risk Management.
  • Physical security strategy and security master planning.
  • Security design for buildings, infrastructure and public realm.
  • Electronic security systems, including Video Surveillance Systems, Access Control, Intruder Detection and Perimeter Intrusion Detection.
  • Protective security and counter-terrorism advice.
  • Operational security and security governance.
  • Security surveys, audits and site inspections.
  • Business resilience and operational continuity.
  • Security stakeholder engagement and multidisciplinary design coordination.

Your role

  • Support the delivery of physical security consultancy projects across multiple sectors.
  • Assist in undertaking security risk assessments and developing proportionate mitigation measures.
  • Contribute to the production of technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
  • Support the development of operational security requirements and security strategies.
  • Participate in site visits, workshops and client meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary design teams and external stakeholders.
  • Develop technical knowledge through mentoring, project experience and formal training.
  • Build an understanding of relevant legislation, standards and industry good practice.

About you

Essential

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively within project teams.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK when required.

Desirable

  • Understanding of physical security principles or security risk management.
  • Awareness of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) or protective security.
  • Knowledge of electronic security systems such as CCTV or Access Control.
  • Experience of working within infrastructure or the built environment.
  • Awareness of UK security guidance, such as NPSA publications.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance where required.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
