About this role

About Us

At OakNorth, we're on a mission to empower the UK's most ambitious businesses. Since 2015, we've lent over $21 billion across the UK and US, helped create more than 58,000 new homes and 36,000 new jobs, and supported hundreds of thousands of personal savers — all while fuelling the UK economy. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-growing bank known for challenging the status quo. We're not looking for just another cog in the wheel — we want bold thinkers and proactive self-starters who are eager to shape their own careers while supporting the UK's most driven business leaders.

About The Team

Our Financial Crime team sits within the second line of defence at OakNorth Bank, operating across all areas of the UK and US business. We're a lean, high-accountability function that covers the full spectrum of financial crime risk and we work closely with the business to make sure OakNorth grows in a safe and sustainable way. The team advises, challenges, and enables — not just polices. We're also at an exciting inflection point, actively building out our use of AI to modernise how second-line risk management works in practice.

The Manager, Financial Crime is a mid-senior advisory role reporting to the MLRO. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid financial crime foundations who is ready to take on broader scope, build meaningful stakeholder relationships, and grow their impact across a dynamic, regulated environment.

What You'll Do

  • Provide advisory on financial crime escalations to second line. This will include CDD, high risk situations, PEPs, gifts and entertainment, sponsorships and more — exercising sound judgement on complex matters and escalating appropriately.
  • Bringing commercial and balanced mindset to everything you do, enabling safe scale and growth
  • Supporting and/or leading the delivery of BAU delivery items – policy, risk assessment, training, MI: the good stuff!
  • Identify and help deliver AI use cases that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of second-line financial crime risk management. Help take us to the next level of AI-nativeness!

YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE…

  • Around 5 years' experience in financial crime within a regulated banking or financial services environment
  • A solid grounding across AML, ABC, fraud, and sanction (and the regs that underpins them), with the confidence to advise on complex cases across multiple themes
  • Understanding of commercial lending, retail savings and business banking product sets.
  • Great stakeholder skills — you're comfortable engaging with the business and operations and building relationships across teams
  • A genuine interest in and working knowledge of AI tools and how they can improve risk management in practice

What we offer

  • 25 days holiday plus personalised benefits — opt in to what matters to you
  • Subsidised private medical insurance with Bupa
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Wellbeing and social events, plus in-house Barista Bar in the London office
  • Volunteering time off to support causes that matter to you
  • Salary sacrifice schemes — cycle to work, nursery, gym, and electric car scheme
