Overview

Your experience handling digital evidence and conducting cybercrime investigations gives you a foundation in the technical and procedural discipline this role requires. The audit and assurance aspects align with your background in managing case files and ensuring procedural compliance. However, this role demands deep knowledge of specific cyber security standards and frameworks that typically require additional professional certification, so it is a realistic option only if you have already retrained in cyber security.

You’re someone who wants to create outcomes that have a real impact on the people of NSW.

You bring structure, mitigation and education to our organisation. Our records and datasets are vast and varied. This is your opportunity to safeguard critical infrastructure, order and protect sensitive data, and defend against emerging cyber threats. You'll be part of an expert team who protect against thousands of threats every day.

In this role, you'll

Support cyber security governance across TfNSW by developing and maintaining enterprise cyber security standards, supporting cyber audit and assurance activities, and contributing to the ongoing operation and improvement of the Information Security Management System (ISMS).

You will assist with Critical Technology Asset (TCA) assessments and track standards exemptions, audit findings, and remediation actions to strengthen the organisation’s cyber posture.

You will apply strong audit, assurance, and risk management practices to provide evidence‑based insights, ensuring controls, frameworks, and standards are consistently applied.

This role operates within a hybrid working model and focuses on delivering meaningful governance that protects critical transport operations and public safety.

About you

You are an experienced cyber security professional with strong knowledge of cyber security standards, frameworks, controls, and audit and assurance processes.

You bring prior experience supporting ISMS operations, documentation, and continual improvement, along with proven capability in risk management and remediation tracking.

You influence outcomes through evidence, governance, and risk insight rather than hierarchy, and you value practical, impact‑driven assurance over compliance for compliance’s sake.

Motivated by purpose, you are driven by the opportunity to provide effective checks and balances that protect critical services relied on every day.
