This is a permanent full-time*position, open to candidates in *Perth WA or Sydney NSW.

As a Senior Detection & Response Engineer, you'll play a key role in strengthening HBF's cyber resilience capability through the engineering, operation and continuous improvement of our cyber defence technologies. Working across on-premises, cloud and SaaS environments, you'll enhance detection and response capabilities, drive automation initiatives and collaborate with stakeholders to protect HBF's systems, data and members from evolving cyber threats.

In this role, you will

  • Engineer, maintain and continuously improve cyber security technologies including SIEM, DLP, EDR, ASM and vulnerability management platforms.
  • Develop and enhance cyber monitoring, detection and response capabilities across the organisation.
  • Design, implement and optimise automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and security outcomes.
  • Integrate and manage log sources, threat intelligence feeds and data collection platforms to support monitoring and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with cyber responders, technology teams and business stakeholders to manage incidents, vulnerabilities and security improvements.
  • Provide technical expertise, recommendations and documentation to support cyber security initiatives and uplift organisational capability.

About You

You're a technically strong cyber security professional with experience building and operating detection and response capabilities in a complex environment. You combine hands-on engineering expertise with a proactive mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for continuous improvement. You'll be comfortable working autonomously while collaborating with others to solve complex security challenges and help keep the organisation secure.

Ideally, you will have

  • Demonstrated experience in a cyber security engineering, detection and response, or security operations role.
  • Proven expertise designing, implementing and supporting SIEM platforms, including detection content, automation and performance improvements.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills, with experience developing solutions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Knowledge of cyber security technologies and concepts, including threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management and data loss prevention.
  • Experience managing or administering technology environments, including Windows and/or Linux platforms.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
