The Senior Information Officer supports the effective management and use of information and content across the department, ensuring information practices align with governance, policy and compliance requirements while enabling productivity and modern ways of working.

The Senior Information Officer supports the effective management and use of information and content across the department, ensuring information practices align with governance, policy and compliance requirements while enabling productivity and modern ways of working.

The role applies information management standards and guidance in practical contexts, working closely with business areas, digital and IT teams to improve how information is created, structured, accessed and used. This includes supporting information readiness for digital platforms, collaboration tools and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. The role provides strategic leadership, governance and authoritative advice to support service delivery.

Working under the direction of the Principal Information and Emerging Technology, the role provides hands-on advisory support, contributes to capability uplift and helps translate information policy and guidance into everyday practice across the organisation.

About you

  • Applies information and content management frameworks, standards and guidance to support consistent and compliant information practices across the department.
  • Supports experimentation and continuous improvement within agreed governance and risk settings.
  • Builds effective working relationships across business, digital and IT teams.
  • Provides information management input to initiatives involving new tools, platforms or changes to information use.

Qualification/Specialist Experitse

  • Tertiary qualification in information management, information technology, digital disciplines or a related field is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience applying information and content management practices, standards or guidance in a complex organisational environment is required.
