About this role

A leading Financial Services organisation is looking for a Senior Security and Cyber Operations Manager to take ownership of its security operations, cyber defence, monitoring and incident response capabilities.

This is a senior, hands-on role within the CISO function, responsible for strengthening the organisation’s cyber defence capability and ensuring it is equipped to detect and respond to an increasingly sophisticated threat landscape, including emerging AI-enabled threats.

The role offers a base salary of circa £110,000 + excellent benefits, with very flexible working.

You will work closely with Technology, Cloud, Data, Architecture, Risk and external security partners, with responsibility for security tooling, detection coverage, incident response, operational cyber risk and service performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and continually improve the organisation’s security operations and cyber defence capability
  • Lead security monitoring, detection, incident response and major incident activity
  • Stay ahead of emerging threats, including AI-enabled attacks, and ensure the organisation is prepared to respond
  • Improve detection coverage, security tooling, telemetry, automation and operational processes
  • Manage key security platforms including SIEM, SOAR, EDR and NDR
  • Provide risk based decision making around cyber incidents, containment, recovery and remediation
  • Manage external security partners and ensure effective delivery and service performance
  • Develop security operations metrics, reporting and governance for senior stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to strengthen detection, investigation and response

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience leading security operations, SOC, cyber defence or incident response within a complex enterprise environment
  • Hands-on experience across security monitoring, incident response, threat intelligence and detection engineering
  • Strong understanding of SIEM, SOAR, EDR, NDR, logging, telemetry and security tooling
  • Proven experience managing major cyber incidents, including containment, recovery and executive communication
  • Strong understanding of emerging cyber threats and the evolving impact of AI on the threat landscape
  • Experience managing external security operations and managed service providers
  • Strong understanding of cyber risk, control effectiveness, incident governance and remediation
  • Ability to translate complex technical security issues into clear business risk and executive-level recommendations
  • A genuine interest in the practical application of AI and automation within security operations
