CTSAs leave policing into a market that has just been handed to them. The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act — Martyn's Law — puts a legal protect duty on hundreds of thousands of UK venues, and they all need someone to assess, plan and evidence compliance. That is, almost literally, the CTSA job description.
Beyond the compliance wave, protective-security consultancy, critical-infrastructure security and corporate threat management have always hired CT-experienced officers; the advisory skill — telling an unwilling audience what they must spend money on, persuasively — is the differentiator.

Say it in their language
- "CTSA" → "National counter-terrorism protective-security advisor: vulnerability assessment and mitigation design for high-risk and crowded places".
- "Delivered ACT awareness" → "Trained and exercised private-sector organisations in threat awareness and attack response".
- Quantify the estate: "advised X00 sites including stadiums, transport hubs and CNI" — scale is the consultancy sales pitch.
Licences and quick wins
- Register of Chartered Security Professionals (CSyP) is the long-term credential; Security Institute membership (MSyI) is the quick one.
- Martyn's Law consultancy is being sold now — position your CTSA experience explicitly against the Act's standard and enhanced tiers.
- Current SC/CTC clearance keeps CNI and government-adjacent doors open — maintain it if you can.
- IOSH/NEBOSH aren't required but calm the HR filter for head-of-security roles that blend safety and security.
