Overview

Referment is working with a London-based foreign exchange and international payments specialist that supports mid-market and enterprise clients moving money globally.

About this role

Referment is working with a London-based foreign exchange and international payments specialist that supports mid-market and enterprise clients moving money globally. Authorised by the FCA as a payment institution, the firm is growing and is now adding a Compliance Officer to work alongside its Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).

This is a hands-on role with end-to-end exposure to financial crime compliance. Rather than owning one narrow process inside a large institution, you'll see onboarding, monitoring, screening and investigations through from start to finish, in a firm where compliance works directly with senior decision-makers. The role is office-based in central London, five days a week.

The Role

  • Work alongside the MLRO to support the effective operation of the firm's financial crime compliance framework, ensuring customer onboarding, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring and day-to-day business activities comply with legal, regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Conduct customer onboarding and due diligence, including enhanced due diligence on complex corporate ownership structures.
  • Review transaction monitoring alerts and carry out investigations.
  • Support sanctions screening and adherence to UK AML/CTF and sanctions rules across the business.
  • Gain broad exposure across AML, KYC, sanctions, payments and regulatory compliance as the firm continues to grow.

What We're Looking For

  • You are an experienced compliance professional with hands-on AML and KYC experience.
  • A sharp eye for detail and the confidence to assess complex compliance matters, including corporate ownership structures.
  • Sound judgement and a genuine commitment to integrity in a fast-moving environment.

Exposure to sanctions screening, payments and wider regulatory compliance would strengthen your application, as would experience in foreign exchange or another regulated payments business.

This could suit a compliance officer or analyst from a payments provider, FX broker, bank or fintech who wants broader ownership in a smaller firm, working directly alongside the MLRO rather than several layers from the decisions.
