About this role

We’re a UK-based digital bank dedicated to getting the basics right and offering straightforward savings and mortgages.

This is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

As a 1st Line Enterprise Risk Manager, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening risk management across the Bank’s complex and higher-risk business areas. Acting as a trusted risk partner to the business you will champion effective risk ownership, challenge and enhance control effectiveness. You will ensure material risks are identified, assessed, managed and monitored in line with the Bank’s Risk Management Framework. You will help drive consistent risk practices, identify opportunities to strengthen the control environment and support the development of a scalable, business-led approach to risk management across the Bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide risk oversight and challenge across complex and higher-risk 1st line business units, ensuring alignment with the Bank’s RMF.
  • Lead RCSA control testing and assurance activity, identifying weaknesses, themes and emerging risks.
  • Deliver clear risk insight and MI to support senior decision-making, governance and enterprise risk initiatives.
  • Strengthen risk culture and capability through coaching, challenge and promotion of strong risk ownership and accountability.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships across 1st line risk, 2nd line risk, Compliance and 3rd line internal audit.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Strong banking experience, with exposure to treasury, securitisation, structured finance or complex financial products.
  • Experience conducting thematic reviews, identifying trends, control weaknesses, root causes and emerging risks.
  • Strong knowledge of RMFs, risk appetite, RAMs, RCSA and 1st line control testing.
  • Ability to turn risk insight into action, including effective challenge, remediation and senior-level MI.
  • Strong understanding of risk and control interdependencies, enterprise risk aggregation and cross-risk themes.
  • Good financial services knowledge, particularly Savings/Deposits, residential and buy-to-let Mortgages, Conduct Risk and customer outcomes.
