The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Head of Cyber Security to provide strategic leadership of the organisation’s cybersecurity strategy, governance and capability.

This senior leadership position will be responsible for defining and delivering an enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategy that safeguards G8 Education’s technology environment, information assets and data, while supporting the organisation’s strategic priorities and ongoing transformation.

Working in close partnership with the Executive Leadership Team and senior stakeholders across Technology, Legal, Risk and the broader business, you will provide authoritative advice on cyber risk, strengthen organisational resilience and ensure appropriate security governance and controls are embedded across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

A key focus of the role will be providing clear and commercially considered advice to senior executives and the Board, translating complex cybersecurity risks and emerging threats into meaningful business implications, strategic priorities and actionable recommendations.

  • Define and lead G8 Education’s enterprise cybersecurity strategy, roadmap and governance framework, aligned with business priorities, regulatory requirements and organisational risk appetite.
  • Provide strategic cyber risk advice to the Executive Leadership Team and Board, translating complex security risks into clear business impacts, priorities and recommendations.
  • Strengthen the organisation’s cyber resilience through effective risk management, security architecture, threat management and incident response frameworks.
  • Lead the organisation’s response to significant cybersecurity incidents, ensuring effective executive communication, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Technology and business leaders to embed security into strategic initiatives, technology investments and organisational transformation.
  • Oversee cybersecurity governance, policies and regulatory compliance, ensuring alignment with evolving legislation, industry standards and best practice.
  • Drive effective management of third-party and supply-chain cyber risk across the organisation.
  • Build a strong security-conscious culture through enterprise awareness, education and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor emerging cyber threats, industry trends and technology developments to proactively evolve G8’s cybersecurity capability and maturity.
  • Lead cybersecurity investment and resource planning, ensuring priorities and expenditure are aligned with the organisation’s most significant risks and strategic objectives.

About You

You will be a highly experienced cybersecurity leader with strong strategic, commercial and technical capability, complemented by the executive presence required to influence and advise at senior leadership and Board level.

You will bring

  • Significant leadership experience across cybersecurity, information security or cyber risk within a large, complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategies, frameworks and roadmaps.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cyber risk management, security governance, security architecture, incident response and threat management.
  • Strong knowledge of recognised cybersecurity frameworks, regulatory obligations and relevant industry standards.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the organisational response to significant cybersecurity incidents and emerging threats.
  • Strong understanding of third-party, vendor and supply-chain cybersecurity risk.
  • Proven experience providing strategic cybersecurity advice, reporting and recommendations to executive leadership teams and Boards.
  • The ability to translate complex technical and security matters into clear commercial, operational and strategic implications.
  • Highly developed stakeholder management and influencing capabilities, with the ability to establish trusted partnerships across Technology, Risk, Legal, Finance and operational functions.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic judgement, with the ability to balance cybersecurity requirements with broader organisational priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and a commitment to strengthening organisational cybersecurity awareness, resilience and maturity.
  • Hold a valid working with children check or willingness to obtain upon commencement.
