We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Intermodal Operations Manager to lead the safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery of our intermodal operations.

Reporting to the General Manager - Intermodal, this role is responsible for the day-to-day management of rail, road, terminal and cross-dock operations, ensuring service excellence, operational efficiency and strong commercial performance. You will play a key leadership role in managing operational teams, customer relationships, workforce planning and continuous improvement initiatives across the intermodal network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of intermodal, transport, terminal and cross-dock operations.
  • Manage workforce planning, rostering, labour utilisation and operational resource requirements.
  • Ensure efficient management of equipment, subcontractors and operational assets.
  • Monitor operational performance and proactively respond to service disruptions, risks and customer requirements.
  • Drive operational efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives across the network.
  • Lead, coach and develop operational teams to achieve high levels of performance and engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and act as a senior operational escalation point.
  • Ensure customer commitments, service standards and KPIs are consistently achieved.
  • Manage operational costs and identify opportunities to improve productivity and profitability.
  • Champion Qube's safety culture and ensure compliance with WHS, Chain of Responsibility and transport regulations.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Monitor and report on operational, safety, customer and financial performance metrics.
  • Support business growth initiatives through operational leadership and expertise.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in transport, logistics, intermodal, supply chain or cross-dock operations.
  • Proven leadership experience managing operational teams within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of rail, road and containerised freight operations.
  • Experience managing workforce planning, rostering and operational coverage requirements.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Sound understanding of WHS, Chain of Responsibility and transport compliance requirements.
  • Excellent customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining operational excellence.

Desirable

  • Experience in rail or intermodal terminal operations.
  • Experience managing warehouse or cross-dock facilities.
  • Experience managing subcontractor transport networks.
  • Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and operational reporting tools.
  • Experience delivering operational improvement, automation or transformation projects.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline.
