This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Newcastle Area Command as an Investigation Support Officer.

Join Northumbria Police as an Investigation Support Officer and play a vital role in helping to prevent and detect crime while safeguarding vulnerable people across our communities. Working as part of a dedicated investigation team, you will provide essential support to operational officers and staff, assisting with the gathering, development and management of evidence to support criminal investigations. Your work will contribute directly to achieving positive outcomes for victims and ensuring investigations are progressed efficiently and professionally.

In this rewarding role, you will undertake a range of directed enquiries and investigative tasks, supporting the investigation of criminal offences and other incidents. You will liaise with victims, witnesses and partner agencies, helping to deliver a high-quality service that places communities at the heart of everything we do. What you’ll do

• Manage, review and process CCTV, digital downloads, third-party material and other evidential exhibits to support criminal investigations.
• Prepare, redact and present evidential material in a format suitable for investigation, disclosure and court proceedings.
• Support the development of prosecution case files by gathering, collating and organising evidence in line with CPS and disclosure requirements.
• Undertake investigative administration, including preparing applications, authorities and orders to support enquiries and operational activity.
• Research and interrogate local and national information systems to identify intelligence, support offender-focused investigations and provide recommendations to investigating officers.

What you’ll bring

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships, listen effectively and engage with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
• Experience or knowledge of investigative processes and tools, including CCTV review, digital evidence and other information-gathering techniques.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and maintain high professional standards.
• Effective problem-solving skills, able to analyse information, identify root causes and recommend appropriate actions to support investigations.
• A collaborative team player with an understanding of diverse communities, vulnerability and local policing issues, committed to delivering a professional and victim-focused service.
