Imperial College London is seeking a Mechanical and Electrical Compliance Manager to lead technical compliance assurance across mechanical, electrical and related building systems across all Imperial campuses.

Working within the Property Division’s Centre of Expertise, you will play a key role in ensuring that M&E assets, systems and maintenance activities meet statutory, regulatory and organisational requirements. You will provide technical assurance to senior leaders on safety, reliability and compliance performance, helping to maintain safe, resilient and well-managed campus environments.

What you would be doing

In this role, you will oversee technical compliance across M&E and related building systems, ensuring statutory inspections, certification, maintenance records and PPM schedules are accurate, complete and aligned with relevant standards. You will use compliance and maintenance data to identify risks, performance gaps and improvement opportunities, escalating issues where required.

You will provide expert advice on M&E compliance risks, support audits, assurance activity and incident investigations, and help maintain clear policies, procedures and technical standards. Working with contractors, statutory inspection providers and internal teams, you will monitor performance, support safe working practices and provide clear reporting to senior management on compliance, safety and regulatory performance.

What we are looking for

  • HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in M&E maintenance, engineering compliance or technical services management
  • Experience working within complex estates such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, energy or large commercial portfolios
  • Experience with maintenance compliance frameworks and CAFM systems
  • Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act, Fire Regulations, M&E systems, statutory requirements and safety regulations
  • The ability to interpret engineering documentation, certification and test results
  • Competence in auditing, assurance and compliance reporting processes
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify risk trends
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills, including presenting information to senior management
  • The ability to influence and engage cross-functional teams and promote a strong compliance-first approach
  • A high level of integrity and a strong focus on safety, reliability and technical assurance

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
  • Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 41 days’ annual leave and generous pension schemes).
  • Access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
