The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced MLRO to lead the second line of defence (2LOD) monitoring and oversight responsibilities with regards to financial crime. As the MLRO, you’ll have a significant opportunity for impact as Stream continues to scale. From owning the oversight, maintenance, and implementation of AML systems and controls to defining the oversight strategy which protects our customers and helps our products scale. You will work closely with the Compliance team and with First Line teams to bring together a cohesive aligned approach.

You will have expert knowledge on all things financial crime, including the requirements of the Money Laundering Regulations, FCA requirements, Sanctions requirements, and Fraud mitigation and management.

Reporting to the Director of Compliance you will be the FCA approved MLRO function (SMF17) an integral part of a small collaborative team providing oversight and second Line support to various Stream entities to assist in achieving our ambitious goals.

What will you be doing?

Take responsibility for the development and maintenance of a robust company wide anti-financial crime strategy. Ensuring that all Stream entities remain within risk appetite and compliant with the requirements of legal and regulatory requirements.

Oversee, review and enhance the financial crime framework, policies, and procedures in line with industry best practice and regulatory requirements.

Complete monitoring reviews and risk assessments of financial crime controls and providing summaries and feedback of any findings to management and the Board, tracking actions, to closure and completing re-assessments where required.

Development and maintenance of an effective and impactful training programme ensuring staff understanding.

Completing all external reporting obligations, including regulatory reporting and submissions to the NCA or OFAC as required .

Compile, review, and enhance periodically, relevant management information identifying and summarising trends and escalating where necessary.

Keep abreast of regulatory developments and industry best practice and communicate these to the relevant business areas, tracking any required actions to completion

Review new relationships, initiatives, and products for financial crime impact

Complete on an annual basis an MLRO report for each relevant entity

Complete on an annual basis a financial crime business wide risk assessment for each relevant entity

What experience might you have?

Must-haves: (But if you’re close… we'd still love to talk to you!)

2-3 years experience as an MLRO in a fintech/start-up credit/payment services environment

5-7 years experience in financial crime related roles

Professional qualifications such as ICA Diploma, CAMS, or equivalent.

Inquisitive and truth seeking attitude with an inclination to challenge the status quo on a proportionate basis

The ability to work autonomously

Strong communication skills and the ability to tailor and time communications with the audience and collaborate effectively with all levels of the business

Superb attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills to enable quick decision making in a fast paced environment

A proficient understanding of UK financial services regulation, the MLRs, the JMLSG guidance and the FCA handbook and associated publications
