Overview

Your operational policing experience managing complex risk assessments and multi-agency incidents translates to banking risk frameworks.

About this role

A UK-based bank is looking to hire an Operational Risk Manager to join its second line Operational Risk team, covering a broad retail/transactional banking remit.

The role reports into a Senior Operational Risk Manager and will focus primarily on:

  • Transactional banking (including current accounts and cards)
  • Mortgages and wider private client lending (including other forms of private client lending, co-lending/co-investments and lending to directors)
  • Supporting operational areas aligned to retail banking, including onboarding, payments & settlements and data protection

The business is also exploring re-entering the wealth market (early stages). Wealth management operational risk experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.

What they’re looking for

  • Strong retail/transactional banking knowledge is important (feedback from the business is that this has been lacking previously)
  • Second line operational risk experience is preferred; candidates from first line non-financial risk/controls roles may be considered if they can demonstrate relevant risk capability
  • Ability to work “hands on” with the business (this team gets involved in BAU risk management with the first line, e.g. supporting risk/control assessments and action tracking)
  • Some experience of ICAAP is ideally required (this team facilitates the ICAAP process and also completes capital calculations internally)
  • Core data analytics skills (particularly needed during the ICAAP period)

If you’re interested, please apply or message to discuss (please note the advert is anonymised; further details will be shared at shortlist stage).
