Overview

Your incident command and contingency planning experience translates directly to operational resilience.

About this role

At Shieldpay, we are redefining digital payments through secure, transparent, and innovative technology. You will play a pivotal role at the heart of our mission—acting as the essential bridge between evolving regulatory demands and our forward-thinking compliance strategy.

This isn't a passive oversight role; it is a high-impact opportunity to shape our operational resilience, influence core business strategy, and safeguard our customers from harm. If you excel at translating complex risk data into clear, actionable governance reports, thrive in an autonomous, agile environment, and want to bring your deep FCA regulatory expertise to a scaling fintech that genuinely values work-life balance and fair workplace culture, Shieldpay is where you can make your mark.

Impact & Responsibilities

  • Framework & Governance Management: Own and enhance Shieldpay’s risk and control framework. Facilitate Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) across teams, implement mitigation strategies, oversee control testing, and manage risk appetite boundaries.
  • Regulatory & Statutory Compliance: Lead payment-sector compliance initiatives, keeping the business aligned with current and emerging FCA regulations. Oversee timely regulatory reporting to the FCA and ensure the compliance framework is embedded firm-wide.
  • Operational Resilience: Support the strategy, development, and execution of the Operational Resilience Framework to shield customers from intolerable harm.
  • Monitoring & Assurance: Execute the 2LOD Compliance Monitoring Plan, conducting in-depth thematic reviews and ongoing quality assurance across operational risk and compliance domains.
  • Data-Driven Reporting: Translate complex risk data into clear, concise governance reports. Provide actionable insights to management, C-suite, and the Board on key risk profiles, themes, and trends.
  • Cross-Functional Advisory: Partner with product and engineering teams to advise on regulatory requirements for new products, ensuring continuous delivery of positive customer outcomes.
  • Training & Enablement: Lead the regulatory compliance training framework to keep employees informed, up-skilled, and aligned with industry best practices.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven ability to transform complex datasets into clear, high-impact governance reports.
  • Deep knowledge of FCA operational resilience and non-financial risk frameworks within the payments sector.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a track record of articulating technical compliance mandates to stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite and Board members.
  • A highly autonomous operator who thrives driving concurrent, multi-track risk and compliance projects to completion.

Our Promise: Shieldpay is an equal opportunities employer. For Shieldpay building a fair and transparent workforce begins with the recruitment process that does not discriminate on the grounds of gender, sexual orientation, pregnancy or maternity, gender reassignment, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability or age. We offer flexible working options, such as flexible hours and hybrid work, to support our employees' work-life balance
