About this role

Help protect the systems that keep Queensland powered. We're seeking an experienced OT Cybersecurity Engineer to strengthen and secure Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) environments across critical energy infrastructure.

In this pivotal role, you'll work closely with engineering, operations, IT and cybersecurity teams to embed security into OT systems, manage cyber risk and support the delivery of secure, resilient operations. You'll have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise to meaningful projects, helping safeguard essential assets while driving best practice cybersecurity outcomes across the business.

Duties include but are not limited to

  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity solutions and controls for OT and Industrial Control System environments.
  • Support the design and secure implementation of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in line with industry best practice.
  • Conduct OT cybersecurity risk assessments and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure OT systems comply with relevant standards and frameworks including IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82 and AESCSF.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, IT and cybersecurity teams to deliver integrated security outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and continual improvement of OT incident response and recovery capabilities.
  • Provide technical advice and support on industrial network security and OT cybersecurity controls.
  • Assist in the delivery of cybersecurity projects from planning and design through to implementation and operational support.
  • Monitor and assess emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities and trends impacting OT environments.
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity documentation, procedures, standards and technical reports.
  • Support security investigations and provide reporting on risks, vulnerabilities and security incidents.
  • Foster a culture of safety, security and continuous improvement across all activities.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience

  • Degree qualified in Cybersecurity, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years' Cybersecurity experience, including exposure to OT or ICS environments.
  • Demonstrated experience securing Industrial Control Systems within critical infrastructure, utilities, manufacturing or energy sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP3 and IEC 61850.
  • Sound understanding of IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82 and OT risk management practices.
  • Relevant certifications such as GICSP, CSSA or ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Expert will be highly regarded.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams.
