The Opportunity

Don't just secure the perimeter, shape the platform. We are looking for a Product Security Engineer to join the MQ-28 program at a pivotal moment. This isn't a corporate IT role, this is a Cyber Systems Engineering opportunity. You will move beyond traditional network security to design and implement security architectures across the entire MQ-28 ecosystem, from mission systems hardware and avionics to software and firmware, critical data links, and ground-based control stations.

The Challenge

As part of a high-tempo development program, you won't be securing legacy systems. You will be influencing the design of one of Australia's most advanced autonomous systems from the ground up. You will tackle the complex intersection of security with embedded systems, software, and autonomy, ensuring that the MQ-28 can perform its mission in contested environments.

Your Impact

  • Architectural Influence: Drive "Security by Design" by performing system-level threat modelling to identify and mitigate risks from concept design through operational employment.
  • Systems Engineering Integration: Use MBSE (Cameo) and requirements management tooling (DOORS) to derive and implement rigorous security requirements based on relevant industry compliance frameworks.
  • Full-Spectrum Security: Secure the entire kill-chain, including software, mission computers, data links, and the ground-based supporting ICT infrastructure such as ground control stations, labs and software development environments.
  • Future-Ready Engineering: Leverage AI-driven systems engineering tools to model threat surfaces, map data flows, and trace security requirements against operational mission threads.

What You Bring

  • The Foundation: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Software, or similar such as Computer Science). Industry recognized information security qualification such as CISSP, CRISC, CISM or similar are highly desirable.
  • The Mindset: A passion for solving complex, multi-disciplinary problems where cyber meets physical autonomy.
  • The Toolkit: Proficiency in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies using industry-standard tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler / MagicDraw, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or IBM DOORs).

The Environment

  • Location: Brisbane (High-tempo, collaborative on-site environment; 4 days/week in-office to support rapid prototyping and secure development). Occasional travel to RAAF Amberley and RAAF Woomera may also be required.

Ability to obtain a Security Clearance - The preferred applicant will be required to successfully undergo the security clearance vetting process for NEGATIVE VETTING Level 1 (NV1). The preferred applicant MUST be willing to disclose all relevant and required information and MUST have lived in Australia, or have a checkable background, for at least the preceding*Ten* years.
