Senior Cyber Security Engineer

Job Location: The role is based at SA – Edinburgh Parks with occasional travel to other BAE sites as required. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement and a 9 day fortnight flexible working option.

Role Description

Reporting to the Cyber Security Manager – Defence Delivery, you will Operate as a cyber-security technical SME for OT and IT environments.

Core Duties

• Review, build, maintain, and mature cyber security capabilities to ensure the company is protected against existing and developing threats eg. EDR, Application Control, Vulnerability Management, Network Visibility, Vendor Remote Access, Secure File Transfer etc.
• Identify OT and IT cyber risks and recommend appropriate risk treatments
• Undertake assessments of OT and IT systems against applicable cyber security frameworks
• Develop and maintain ongoing assurance program to ensure compliance with applicable company and customer cyber security standards.
• Develop and maintain documentation to support operations and system authorisation requirements.
• Participate in incident response, forensic reviews, and internal investigations
• Provide technical cyber security advice to the business and customers in the day-to-day delivery of services, including responding to user problems and rectifying faults

Essential Skills

• A degree in ICT/ Engineering or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated experience working in incident response and digital forensics
• Detailed understanding of hacker tools, techniques and procedures
• Detailed understanding and experience with cyber security technologies such as AV, EDR, SIEM, Email and Web proxies, and Vulnerability Scanners
• Experience in IT fundamentals such as systems administration and networking
• Good understanding of Information security manual (ISM) and other global Industry security standards (NIST, ISO, PCI DSS, etc.) relating to ICT Security
• Good understanding of programming/ scripting in languages such as Bash/ Python/ PowerShell
• Good understanding of cyber security orchestration/ automation
• Demonstrated analysis skills, critical thinking and problem solving
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment or autonomously
• Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables
• Defence security clearance NV1 or eligibility to obtain
• Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
